Yes you can later move the unit without having to "refill the gas" if you know how to let the compressor pump the unit down. There is no duct work that goes between the outside unit and the inside unit, only copper lines and electric wiring.

It is possible to move the unit at a later time. Some outdoor units do have the capability of trapping the refrigerant in the outdoor unit.
