African Cichlids are in my opinon one of the toughest fish on the market, being able to handle not perfect water and many different pH levels.

Most African Cichlids perfer hard water and higher pH between levels of 7.8-8.3. Not to say they would do any better or live longer in lower pH but they will show much better colors.
