Well, as Robin Williams said in the movie BiCentennial man, "possibly because it was migrating or maybe there was a female chicken on the other side if it were a male chicken, or it was possibly being pursued and tried to get away" so it is a question for the ages..just like the other one..what came first the chicken or the egg? who knows!
