In 20 minutes (1/3 of an hour) the hand traces out 1/3 the circumference of a circle.
Its length is 3.4in, and therefore the distance moved by the tip is:
2pi 3.4 / 3
= 2.27pi
= 7.1 inches to 1dec.pl.

7.1 inches
you use pi x diameter so 3.4 x 2 x pi to get the whole circumference of the clock. then you divide the result by 3 to get the distance traveled in 20 minutes as this is one third of an hour

The answer is 7.1 inches. C = Pi x D...C=3.14159 x 6.8 inches. Diameter = 2 times the radius = 6.8 inches.
Circumference = 21.3628 inches.
Twenty minutes is one third of an hour. One third of the circumference is 21.3628/3/3 = 7.1209 inches.....the answer is 7.1 inches.
