No, washing your hair a lot won't cause headaches. Dry hair and scalp if you overdo it, but not headaches. Long hair actually needs less washing than short hair, as it takes longer for the scalp oils to get brushed down to the ends of long hair -- with short hair, the grease just stays near the scalp and gets nasty looking much faster. Twice a week is probably enough unless you work out or do dirty work or have very oily hair. Wash it just before you think it will start to look limp and oily.

Pulling your hair back into a tight pony tail CAN cause headaches.

Hair should be washed at least 2-3 times per week, depending its make-up. If you have dry or brittle hair you should wash less because you are stripping your hair of its oils. If you hair is oily, wash more due to the quick build-up of oil. I personally have not heard of any cases where washing hair causes headaches.

usually once every other day is alright sometimes once every 3 days depending on how fast your hair gets dirty, and the only reason to get a headache is if your hair is really dirty and is pulling on your scalp
