i never really keep track of the specific date that my period starts i always have my "sign" and then the next day or so i start. well i had my sign about 8 days ago but i havent started since and i noticed that my nipples were a little sore. but then 2 days ago i was in a car accident on the seat belt burned my pelvic area a little and left me with many bruises across there. on one side it even left a blood clot. when the doctors did my x-rays they sheided me to protect the embryo in case i was. but they never did a test. they gave me perscriptions but i havent taken them b/c i dont know if i am pregnant. what i wanted to know is if in fact i am pregnant could the bruises be a sigh that the seat belt might have hurt the embryo even though it would only be a week or two old?

At that point in time, the embryo would be so tiny and so well-cushioned, it's doubtful it was harmed. Bruises usually indicate a broken vessel beneath the skin, so apparently it wasn't a deep injury. If the doctor gave you prescriptions after being told you were pregnant, they should be okay, but if you aren't sure, ask a pharmacist. And while you're at the phramacy, get an EPT and find out for certain. Good luck, and I hope your baby is on the way!

You are panicking about it and you don't know for sure if you are even pregnant. You need to take a test for starters. It is highly unlikely that the "embryo" as you are calling it was "hurt". If you are pregnant, the baby is surrounded by fluid, many layers of tissue. I am a nurse and I worked in OB and distinctly remember discussing this issue in class. If the doctor knew you suspected pregnancy, he would have prescribed meds that are category A or B in pregnancy which means they do not cross the placenta and get into the babies system. It has been 2 days, please take a test to know for sure. And if you are, set up an appt with an OB who can answer your questions better than any of us.

Normaly at that early stage of being pregnant it probably wouldnt of hurt the baby if there is one but you never know it could of caused you to have a miscarriage which a pregnancy test wont detect and doctors might be unsure if there was one because the child is so small and no longer there so i would wait and take a test to see and if you still feel worried about it then go back to the doctor and have them do a blood test.

Possibly my eldest brother was mentally retarted b/c when my mom was I think 2 mths pregnant she got into a fender bender which caused it. However, that is what the doctor said and he was born in 1977. If the doctor gave you meds then I would not worry to much but get a second opinion by a Professional! If you are that parinoid.
