when the draft happened 2 years ago, i thought that cutler would have the best career, leinart would be the best prepared (instant success). I didn't really like young coming out of college. i stand corrected but i don't think that he will be as good this year as he was his rookie season. Your thoughts?

Cutler is the best of the group and I think he will win 2 or 3 Super Bowls in his career.
Leinart will be great; but much like Dan Marino he will never win a Super Bowl.
Young will always be average, he will win alot of games but never put up the numbers of the afore mentioned players. As far as passing skills alone...he ranks 3rd.

I guess I'm going to be the first one to back Cutler as the best career. I believe he will win a couple of Super Bowls when it is all said and done. In the end winning is all that counts, but I think he'll put up the stats too. All 3 guys have an extraordinary amount of talent, but here is why Cutler is have the better career.

Player Completion % Yds/game TDs Ints Rate
Leinart 56.8 212.2 11 12 74.0
Young 51.5 146.6 12 13 66.7
Cutler 59.1 200.2 9 5 88.5

Cutler holds a clear advantage in Completion Percent, Touchdown/Interception Ratio, and QB Rating.

But down the road the thing that will really make Cutler the best quarterback is the people around him. Cutler is on a much superior team. His offensive line is one of the best in the NFL, he has the 2nd best RB (Travis Henry) of the 3 and he has the 2nd best WR corp. Running the ball makes your quarterback better. If you have a running game that can go over 130, 140 yards a game you have a distinct advantage, and that is exactly what the Broncos do.

Leinart has great skill players around him, some of the best in the league. But his offensive line is swiss cheese. IF Leinart's offensive line were upgraded (Levi Brown was a good start) he would have a good shot at nudging out Cutler. However, Edgerin James will only be in town a few more years, and there is no backup who could step up if he goes down. You cannot throw the ball every down. You have to be balanced to win in the NFL.

Young is one of my favorite players, but he has absolutely no help on offense. Their best WR from last year is gone. Travis Henry jumped to the Broncos and Cutler. Chris Brown will probably be gone before the season begins. His offensive line is a little better than Leinart's, but not by much. It was amazing what he was able to accomplish, but the 2 other key parts of the success are now gone (Bennett and Henry). Don't expect the same results this year.

It's really too close to call right now. VY had the better rookie campaign out of the 3 hands down, but Tennessee doesn't have the type of playmakers Young had at Texas...right now. Cutler is the only QB that's on a playoff caliber team right now (a far cry from Vanderbilt.....sorry Commodore fans), which could lead to instant success once he's more comfortable. Leinart has the luxury of running an offense that closely resembles the offense he had at USC, sans an all-purpose back like Reggie Bush. Unfortunately, this is one area where their on the field performance won't be the determining factor....rather, it'll be the decision makers in the front office that surround these guys with the talent they need to get the job done. So far, that goes to Jay Cutler.

It's Cutler. Here's why:

1. Cutler has the better team around him. While Leinart has Edge, Fitz and Boldin on the offence, he has no oline, no defense, and is in a much tougher situation since the other teams in his division seem to have a direction. Young is going to probably get hurt because of the Madden cover and will never be the same. Even if he is the team he has around him is crap. hes going to be giving the ball to guys like Lendell White and Tyrone Calico. Who? And the Defense is terrible too(last in the NFL in yards allowed).

2. Cutler is a more accurate and stronger Armed passer than all of them. Leinart is a weekling and he can't throw the deep ball well at all. Young is not that accurate and relies on creating separation with his legs like Vick only hes much larger so he can just run over people.

3. Cutler has the better coach. Ken Whisenhunt is a line and a running the football coach. Ya Shanahan is too but he can turn bad Qb's into decent ones. Cutlers already good. Look what he did with Plummer and 2005 and he made Griese a pro Bowler in 2001. Young has defencive and collge minds aroung him. He isn't going to be a true qb unless they get a new coach. Fisher is good for motavation but bad at making adjustments and always rides his stars into the ground. Look at Eddie George and Steve McNair for example.

Cutler is the better QB qith the better team around him the bter situation and the better Coach. Hes going to be great for Denver.

Here's a clip that may make you understand his Arm Srength and Accuracy.

Cutler has the best organization and overall team around him. I think he'll have an excellent year and lead Denver to the playoffs.
Leinart would be next. They are building a good team around him but they are not there yet. Arizona will improve but no playoffs.
Young rookie year was so-so in my book. He played half of a OK season. This year he has lost his starting WRs, RB, his OL is not improved, and a questionable D has gotten worse. I don't see the Titans doing better than 8-8 at most and probably more like 6-10.

Leinart, I'd love 2 say Young but I have to be real here, that system fits him and look at the rest of the offense in Arizona, he has a great team of WRs, he has a talented running back, once his line gets straitened out they will put up big numbers

Young well the titans offense is shaky, and teams will start stopping him from running, So maybe if young can make the Transition like McNabb did he will have a good career

I'm a big fan of Leinart, and he'll have a fine career in the NFL. I saw Young play in person last year, though, and I came away impressed. He looks pretty special, in terms of making magical plays at big times.

It's easy to worry about the injury factor with a running quarterback, but if Young can stay healthy he will be a treat to watch.

This was LAST year's draft, and Leinart will have the better career. Cutler needs more talent around him, and Young is overrated (not to mention cursed).

Leinart. He has the best offensive talent around him with Edge, Boldin, and Fitzgerald. Cutler will probably go to more superbowls because of that defense. Young will be good but doesnt have the talent around him right now.

Vince Young hands down. While Cutler and Leinart are going to be a close 2nd I still believe that Vince just has more all around talent and ability.
