Absolutely not. China is a very different place and artificially creating such a thing would be a dangerous and unstable form of government.
Now, guiding them toward a similar form of government would be helpful, and being a patriot I would appreciate such a change a great deal. I'd love to see China and other countries embrace freedom and capitalism, representative republics and shun socialism.

I expect that patriots in their country hope for the same thing for us toward their way of life.

It's those who have good intentions (but different ways) that make this world grow, not the name-callers, rumor-mongers, etc. Understanding that China and others (with a few exceptions) are trying to do their best for their people while still holding true to our goals and self-interests can only help understanding between nations and lead us all toward similar forms of a jointly and naturally formed world government (vs. a forced and unnatural form).

No, Chinese have a very different view of the world and how humans interact with each others.
Also, for a modern democracy, it required the population to be educated. Chinese have minimal education and are easily impressed. So all in all, China is really seeking a better solution, but they did not find it right now... What they are seeking is a way to have a fair political system that is efficient and respected by the people. Confucius have influence this ideal in China, and the Chinese want and need a chinese solution to govern them. American democracy cannot work in CHina, for the simple reason that 1.3billions Chinese cannot get everything the American have (for obvious ressource limitation), so the population cannot be controlled the same way as it is working here (consumerism is forcing people into accepting the system by getting debt and spending money to purchase anything, so they don't have time or will to change their government).

Edit: for the answer below me, it is true that countryside area can vote for their official, but those votings are always biased toward the most powerful... Also cities don't have such organ.
China political system is all about giving face, so most of it is illusory for the moment. They always follow the main political line. The only thing that comes close of being called democracy, is that every and each ministery, has its own allegance to a specific clique, and those cliques are the ones that drives the votes. There is many cliques, but the most powerful are the Beijing one and Shanghai. Guandong is also getting powerful...

Americans have a democratic republic you idiots! Well, supposedly...that's what we teach ourselves...in reality, we have a popularity contest, and wether or not the person is qualified we use an archaic electoral college that chooses our president for us. When the electoral college is strained by recounting votes we give up and let the supreme court appoint our president like we did in 2000. We've actually not had an elected president in over 6 1/2 years....we were almost a dictatorship, but The current comander-in-thief got checked by americans voting in an opposing party to the congresses. China may be able to use this system much better than we have been! Our form of government has been riddled with corruption from the two major parties for over two hundred years. We even think that our President is the leader of the free world! How fascist is that! There are other free countries that don't need our leadership....trust me. We haven't had leadership in over 6 years!

the chinese elect local officials, these representatives vote for the president. Hu Jin Tao is his name. He is a beaurocrat and politician elected to his position.

we have the congress and senate similar to thier representative branch and when we vote for the popular election we vote for members of the electoral college who then make the decision. As we saw in 2001 bush lost the popular vote but won by electoral college. The chinese combine the electoral college right into the 'congress' whom are voted in directly by the people in the different regions.

Most peoples vision of China is some 40 years old and apparently nobody told you but Mao's dead.

Well, Americans have a republic, but the answer is yes since I assume you mean a government of elected representatives from among the Chinese people.

Absolutely, but that is a really major step to take. I doubt if that will ever happen during our lifetime.
