No, the old Apple ][ does not make the characteristic "gong" sound that the Mac makes. The Apple ][ is pretty noisy however. Those old floppy drives sound like they're chewing rocks when they start up.

No, the Apple II just makes a BEEP and pops the Apple II 40 column "logo".

I would know. I used to have one. An Apple IIe with DuoDisk.

If you are referring to the old Apple IIs, they made all kinds of start up noise. The floppy drive would clatter like hell when it was loading. That's perfectly normal.
