In what mode did he deliver this message?

What was his level of accuracy - did he find the mid-range of the data set? Were the calculations carried out to at least three significant digits?

It would appear that more information is required....

I don't know if he was mean, but he most certainly was rude. He may be trying to tell you that there is someone else that he
is interested in. You missed a great opportunity, when he told you that you were only average. The perfect comeback would have been:" Really? Isn't that funny, I was just about to tell you that your" thingee " is so small."

That sounds like his mode. He may be out of your range. Does your figure resemble a bell shaped curve? I just read Debbi's answer. That little rice paddy vixen stole my idea before I had a chance to type it. Curse you Debbi. May your black pajamas come back late from the dry cleaners. I think she was the first one to get it.

Oh my dear!
I don't think he MEANT to be mean...but that was rude!
You are nothing short of SPECTACULAR.
Beautiful, inside and out.
One of the most amazing people I have ever met.
Is there anyone in the world that is sweeter than you?
Talk to him about what he said, I am sure he didn't mean to hurt you in any way.
You're amazing, and don't you forget it.
Average is WAY below you.
I adore you...very much.
:]

If he told you that then he is BELOW average. Move on to someone who will appreciate you for the wonderful person you are. Life is too short to be with someone who thinks you are nothing short of special.

Bit of a dense crowd out there today. I got it but I sure can't figure out a clever response. I quess I better stick with adjusted average. Or what the heck. Go wild. Go for the bell curve.

And you tell that enzyme Joe for me, my pajamas never dry. Always a little wet. But not for him. No more.

You probably deserve a new boyfriend. He doesn't really care about you if he's going to say unkind things like that.

Furthermore, it says a lot about him that he's willing to settle for less (even if untrue).

The only way this is an acceptable remark is if it's about your height, or something equally un-changeable. Even about your weight, it's thoughtless.

I think he was either being mean or he wasn't thinking about how and what he was saying.

If he was being mean then i think you should tell him how can someone be average if we're all different? Or you could AVERAGELY put your foot up his a**, or AVERAGELY kick his a** to the curb.

It depends on how he said it to you first of all. Was the tone of his voice like "you're JUST average" or was it like "you know, you're kind of average"?But when you say ONLY average I'd say he's being mean. I wouldn't personally stand for that cause no one is "only average"

Yes he was being mean. Many guys try to tell you things like your average if you're pretty so that you will lose confidence doubt yourself and most importantly not leave them.
