I don't think they completely rule the US yet, but they will. If you don't believe so, ask yourself this: how many powerful US gov officials are also, or have very recently been, CEOs and board members of these corporations? How many special favors are given to these same corporations? How many special favors are also given to the corporations which are the top presidential campaign contributors? Just because Fox News hasn't reported about it (and it never would) doesn't mean its not happening! Go look for yourself! Also, if the govt were looking after its people and not just after the corporations, it would never allow the middle class to be decimated by shipping jobs overseas just so they can save a buck!

As a democrat (NOT a socialist), I oppose any sort of socialization of the United States.

They do have nationalized healthcare. Have you looked at their taxes! Do we really want to spend that?

In addition, they lose many of their industries and upper class who are taxed far in excess just because they earn more. Why would any producer/job creator want to stay in a country where they are robbed to give to those who don't want to work for it, but want even more time away from work?

In addition, we have the huge economy we have because we are capitalist. Remove that, we lose our economies robustness and our standard of living goes down, for everyone.

Short-sighted solutions of a socialist type will only hurt us. It's been tried and failed repeatedly.

Mentioning short-term successes (such as European countries that have socialized medicine) is silly, and doesn't consider their economy, their taxes, the cost to business and therefore to our standard of living, etc.

Multinational corporations, yes, but not the way you are thinking...
Actually all modern democracies ARE corporate democracies, even at the foundation of the first democracies, it was already laid out that it will benefit the merchant class...
So nothing new in what you say!
Just look at the statue of liberty given by the french, do you think it was a gift for the poor Americans??

No. The US controls multi-national corporations. Always has, always will. Do you know how much Ford Corp owns in stock in Toyota? Jaquar? Rolls Royce ? Check it out.
