If servers would REREAD what they hopefully wrote down(the customer's order) they would be able to at least bring me the OBVIOUS things correct such as anything that is missing or an entree that is wrong or a side dish. It seems like they'd rather not care about their tip and just bring it. I understand they are busy, but their tip is on the line, so I DO NOT GET WHY they don't feel their FUTURE TIP is an "INCENTIVE" to get the order as right as they possibly can as long as they don't have to touch my food to see the problem. Like just last saturday, substituted cheddar cheese for bleu cheese on a burger with a side of ranch for my fries. We were the only customers, because it was in the middle of the day in a small restaurant. Our waiter comes to the table with an OPEN-FACED burger with the OBVIOUS CHUNKS OF BLEU CHEESE(it's obvious it's NOT orange color, that it's WHITE) and NO ranch on my plate. Sorry, but 12% is what he deserved due to an apology. 10% for no apology.

"If the order came out wrong its because the cook or the kitchen attendant fixed it wrong. Servers are able to put things in the computer to make sure your order comes out right, sometimes those little notes just tend to get ignored and the server gets blamed. "
Don[t you GET IT that the REASON WHY servers get blamed is because they DECIDED ALL ON THEIR OWN NOT TO DOUBLE CHECK THE FOOD? Do you understand that even though the cook didn't put the ranch on the plate or the bleu cheese on the burger, DOESN'T mean my SERVER has to BRING it out to me wrong. The customer gets their food wrong due to their SERVER(the server that took the order) BRINGING it to the TABLE WRONG. Do you get that the server IS to blame? Sure, the cooks messed up, but WHY does the server have to mess up as well and make the customer REPEAT an order that is already WRITTEN DOWN(hopefully) when that ALL could be PREVENTED? My server's job is to get my order CORRECT to me as much as POSSIBLE.

"No server is perfect...unlike yourself OBVIOUSLY!! "
I KNOW I AM NOT, but if MY MONEY depended on SOLEY CUSTOMERS, I would make sure I would have the person's order as correct as possible.
"Would you like your boss to take money out of your check for a mistake?"
I have had money taken out my check when my register was short at the donut shop I worked at for over 2 yrs. That is WHY I DO NOT WORK AS A WAITRESS OR THERE ANYMORE! You take the CHANCE when you work for tips that sometimes you do NOT get paid as much as other times.
"others over a piece of cheese."
I had to wait 5 minutes for it, while my husband was eating, gee fun you know. Also, my ranch was missing. It was 2 mistakes, NOT ONE!
"next time keep it they don't need your pity tips, they won't miss the two dollars you were going to leave anyway. "
I LEFT $4 on $34 and something cents, which was around 12%! WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS, SO THERE WAS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS TO HAVE GOTTEN TO MY TABLE FROM HIM!

I think that sometimes they get in a hurry and don't pay attention to the order that they are serving. I have had this happen at times before and it was usually very busy and they were rushing. Sometimes I think that they just don't care about the service, but want the tip too.

Mistakes happen.
Ignorance happens.
I have experienced working with two basic types of servers. Those you care and take the time to do it right to get the biggest tip possible.
Then there is the table-hogging serve-em-fast and get-em-out so I can make the most $2 per person I can. I hate those.
Sometimes servers trust their cooks too much to get the order right and don't double check as they should. Other times, the management doesn't like substitutions of any kind, it slows the kitchen down and can cause loss in profits. That is the nature of a lower-class restaurant with poor management, therefore poor service.
However, in most cases, its just poor service by the server. They should explain anything they cannot do. They should have apologized profusely and corrected the order immediately. Most times, if something goes wrong, discussing the problem with the waiter/server will prompt better service, yelling at the waitstaff will scare them and they will avoid your table as much as possible (leaving you with an empty beverage, out of ranch, and waiting until you've licked your plate clean to get the bill).
Can you tell I get irked at that kind of stuff, too?! I needed to vent.

There are many possible reasons, but I would pin point these reasons: place blind faith in the kitchen, in a hurry, don't care or feel like it's not worth the effort because people usually tip at least 15% and sometimes that's easier than putting forth the extra effort and concentration for an additional 3-10%.
This questions sounds more like statement than a question. We've all been there. I'm sure that the percent of real bad servers is up there with other professions that require daily service.

No server is perfect...unlike yourself OBVIOUSLY!! People do make mistakes and it's people like yourself, that get so worked up over a burger that drive them to mess up YOUR ORDER!! Have you ever messed up at work? Would you like your boss to take money out of your check for a mistake?? You should relax a little and think about how prehaps you are taking out your unhappy life on others over a piece of cheese. As far as the 10% tip you felt justified in leaving...next time keep it they don't need your pity tips, they won't miss the two dollars you were going to leave anyway.

It's not true that all denominations think that they alone are the right one (although that is certainly true of the JWs). In Protestantism, hardly any denomination have an exclusive view of their own group; I've been to many different groups and they all agree that Christian brethren are to be found in a huge range of other denominations, including the Catholics. They do fear that some groups are burdening their flock with man-made rules and obstacles to grasping God's pure truth, but that is not the same as the JWs who are much more severe in their censure of all others. For example, I have two Watchtower magazines here (about 8 years between them) which quote Jeremiah to say the clergy of Christendom are like the burst-open figs that cannot be eaten for badness. I have no end of books and magazines where the Watchtower Society calls all religions other than their own as part of Babylon the Great, the prostitute in Revelation who is going to be destroyed just before Armageddon. It is unreasonable to expect fulsome answers to all six of your questions, so pardon me for just sticking to the main one, and adding that the biblical gospel is preached by myriad denominations to myriad people in myriad ways. But their gospel message is not the same as the JW one, and that is what should seriously worry the JWs. They need to check out, from the Bible, what the gospel is that Paul and the other disciples preached in the first century, and stick to that.

To tell you the truth its mostly because when you are back there in the kitchen you are getting food shoved in your face and being told to take it. All they care about back there is getting the food out hot, not right. If the order came out wrong its because the cook or the kitchen attendant fixed it wrong. Servers are able to put things in the computer to make sure your order comes out right, sometimes those little notes just tend to get ignored and the server gets blamed.

I can come up with young, dumb, inattentive, and only there for a small wage.
Even my teenage help would double-check orders. But sometimes they'd leave the kitchen without a side of ranch. Mistakes happens. It sounds like your server didn't give a crap.

because they are under alot of pressure by their managers and not to care about people anymore.. just do a job and who cares, and thats why alot of people in the service industry get things mixed up and wrong. They are taught now a days to not give a rip. Customer Service is a thing of the past

You sound very angry. Calm down and maybe you will get a meal that hasn't been spit in. Get a new hobby. Going out to eat doesn't seem to be working out.

haha that is hilarious. i hate when that happens.. most of the time they are really apologetic about it & fix it right away. what i hate is when they don't write down your order, they just "memorize" it i guess..then they come back 3 minutes later and ask what you ordered again. i think we should follow japan & new zealand etc.'s example and not tip!
