i saw on the dicovery channel about what nasa is doing to put life on the moon for over extended periods of time. And later to actually put people out there to live on the moon.

If we are going to send manned missions to Mars, like Bush suggested, then we will have to build a manned Moon Base. In an effort to transport supplies to build a launch center from the Moon. The Moon's low gravity would allow us to use even half the less fuel to launch from than the Earth, making it plausible to carry enough fuel to reach Mars with a larger vessel big enough to carry a crew! So yes first priority is to build a base on the Moon!

PS, by going to Mars and other planets will advance our knowledge in Terraforming and that in turn will allow us to take care of our very own planets problems and impending threats!

The way you describe it, it seems you are talking about terraforming. That's a process where we would make a planet more like the earth so that life could be sustained there without a self-contained environment. You seem to be talking about seeding some kind of simple life and working up from there.
This kind of project has been hypothesised but we are a long way from being able to do it. And the moon would be an impossible host for such a project. We would always need containments there. Now there's been some talk about Mars. Of all the bodies we know, it is the most earthlike. Some have thought there might be some photosynthetic organism that we could plant there that would get a foothold, but even if the cold could be tolerated, all life that we know needs liquid water. There might not be enough on Mars to sustain any kind of ecology.
So the question boils down to which is likely to happen first? Successful terraforming of a planet in this solar system, of which we have only extremely difficult places to work. Or finding a planet that needs little alteration in order to support life, but is in some other star system light years away. I don't know. Can't even guess because both are so far in the future.

There is life on Mars. Part of earth's population came from that planet thousands if not millions of years ago. Some still live under the planets' surface in an undergraound city. They travel to other planets through a vehicle that is not visible to our eyes. Anyway.......We should travel where ever our human spirit yearns to go. They did a thing called terraforming on Star Trek years ago. It's cool and probably can be done by humans before too long.

The people in a moonbase are all going to be volunteers, for starters.

And they will not be there for fun, it is supposed to be a base to allow scientific and technological reseach and development. A moon base will also serve as a stepping stone for missions elsewhere in the solar system.
So, yes, it is a good idea. In fact, it is the only way to go.

Yes, when the sun becomes a red dwarf its over on EARTH,just a matter of time, but not soon. The moon would not be a choice as sun would burn it up b4 Earth, better choices would be Jupiter ,Venus too much difference in hi and low temps.but a possibility.

No because we are not 100% sure that there is not life in existance there already and until we are for sure, we don't want to risk the possiblity of killing what life was already on the planet

Even with the great cost involved it should be done, at least put someone on mars for a few weeks and bring them back safely.

if we start living on the moon then this will help us in many ways. this will help us to search the space even better and this will be a sycological boost for our space program also
