It depends. You ask the question `Live`, well we would`nt drop dead.
If you meant `cope`, then I think after the sudden shock we would gradualy grow to become more healthy, social and happy people.

I think it was the bbc director general Lord Reith (of radio then) that said "television is a social menace of the first magnitude", back in 1967 I think.
Was he correct?

I do like T.V but.... if you think that Coca-cola for instance will pay 20 million pounds for a 30 second slot between a 90 minute film to influence us to buy their product, how can we then be told the 90 minute blood and gore film does not have any influance (on kids especially- the most influential of us all).

Maybe Lord Reith wasn`t talking rubbish, and not only could we live but also be better off.

I don't think we could, or would want to. I hate how certain influences such as greed and hate are the co-creators of most television. And, I hate how sloth and ignorance are two of the most foul results of mainstream TV viewing. But, television brings us closer together, and radio is needed in terms of knowledge.
In terms of entertainment, I believe we are close to captured and most manipulated. Which, may result in an unimaginable life without such elements as TV and Radio. However, there are good aspects to both mediums as means of entertainment, communication and information.

So: NO.

well obviously we could physically exist. but there'd have to be a reason for all the tv to suddenly vanish. so we, being British, would have to blame someone, and you can bet it would be the government. this would probably lead to a number of angry but stupid people yelling incoherently at the government and stating that television is 'their right as human beings' or something. so people would get even angrier, no matter what the government said, be it the most reasonable respose in the world. and the thickos would probably have a little rebellion and then everyone would end up taking sides and we'd have a civil war and kill each other. so, in answer to your question, maybe we couldn't.

No, we are so dependant upon the media that the majority of us 'couch potatoes' would be left completely lost. People are less and less interested in engaging in literature and the arts and politics due to an incessant obsession with the trivia churned out by the TV.

Imagine life without Yahoo! Answers!?!

I could live without tv but not radio! I don't think that as a nation we could though. Although there would be bonuses in it... no big brother!

TV - I've lived without it for years - firstly it's MOSTLY drivel - secondly I don't want to pay the licence of around £100 per year for the BBC to make drivel like EEnders etc.

My kids don't mind either - they draw, paint, we play tons of different board games, read books, mags, go out most days, etc etc, but important we TALK.

I agree with the person who said to live w/o computers and internet is more relevant these days - I let the kids use the computer.

yes..we could live of course. We would have plays and recitals and loads of fun stuff that everyone would get involved in and make use of our talents and develop our talents better and the world would be a better place but since we got it...we ain't gonna give it up and i doubt since we've had it we could give it up...we could...but we don't want to. Some people do but since all that i spoke of above involves the whole of the community, then just one or two people giving it up doesn't really do much except maybe for that person if they are happier without it.

I do. I think that there'd be a huge sensory gap which would have to be filled by something. Most of our population would choose computer-games. Mind you, they'd read papers more. meaning that more rainforest is destroyed, and as the clacky-clack of dominoes falls, global warming threatens to obliterate us. America blames the UK and fires nukes on us, causing a temporary nuclear winter. People forget to take Global Warming seriously and have a Co2 party meaning we are consumed by fire. If the ice didn't kill us. Ah, good old robert frost, he had the right Idea. Nuclear winter or Global Warming. Fire AND Ice.
