I remember Georgie boy coming back after a ban and scoring a goal for each week of his ban. The guy was awesome, it was'nt just his skill, it was the natural confidence he showed. He was never afraid to try something no matter who the opposition. The only player I have seen since with that same attitude was Cantona, and although it's early days yet the boy Ronaldo is looking pretty good too. But yes George best still my number one.

No ... Diego Maradona is the best footballer ever, based on individual skill.
He won the Italian league single handedly for Napoli and did the same with the World Cup for Argentina.
And before everybody jumps on the "Hand Of God" bandwagon, you need to see past this and appreciate a genius at work.

George Best in his prime was unquestionably a genius. Every time he played, he added at least 3,000 to the attendance figures.
Sadly, playing for Northern Ireland, he was unable to demonstrate his skills at the World Cup finals. Also, his drinking and personal problems unfortunately cut short his playing career at the very top.
However, I think the greatest has to be Pele who had a football brain that was even greater than his feet - someone who proved himself in four World Cup finals, and was the outstanding player in three of them (he was kicked off the pitch and injured in 1966).

While I place Besty among the world's best, I rate Di Stefano, Pele and Maradona ahead of him. It's all down to a matter of opinion of course and all I can add to that is that, I have been one of the very fortunate ones to have been born early enough to have seen them all play in person.

I think Pele was the most talented player ever, Jimmy Johnstone was a wee magician and could make any player look a right fool. Then there was Eusabio, the list could go on and no two people will agree, we all have our favourites. Good choice though!

Probably the best to ever come from the UK, but world terms its still pele and maradona. it's a shame such a legend went the way he did if only it could of been more dignified, its a shame to see maradona going down the same path!
