This system is at equilibrium. Which of these (only one) will happen if the pressure of the system is lowered?

N2O4(g) ↔ 2NO2(g)

1) N2O4 gas forms.
2) Equilibrium is unaffected.
3) NO2 gas is consumed.

Le Chateleier's principle tells us that a stress will result in a change in conditions to reduce the stress.

If the pressure of gases is changed, the system will react only if there are a different number of moles on the two sides. If the pressure is increased, it will move to the side with fewer moles. If the pressure is decreased, it will move to the side with more moles.

In your equation, the right side has more moles. So a reduction in pressure will move in that direction

#4
the reactants has 6 moles while the products has 4.
if pressure is lowered the reaction would go forward,
producing NO2 gas.

reb is right

a decrease in pressure would make this system shift to the right

more NO2 would form

I would pick choice 4
