is it true you can not speed up... only walk at the pace you do every day
I asked my 77 yr old mother to please try to walk a little faster.
she says she can not..does the mind turn off. meaning you can not tell you legs to move faster..

She can move faster but will take practice. Keep encouraging her or walk with her. She needs you. However, if she chooses not to, don't be discouraged with her. Any walking at that age is beneficial to her. No, the mind does not turn off. Just ask her why she cannot walk faster. You might learn some more about her pains that she is not telling you. She probably hurts all over.

Thanks for thinking of her. We need more people to care for our senior citizens. They were where you were once.

your body slows down as you get older. The mind is not telling your legs to slow down. There's simply no way you can move your bones and muscles like you did when you were twenty.
