I have an evenflo comfort select Dual electric breast pump. i tried using it this morning but it's not sucking. The noise that it makes when it does suck is there, but it's not doing the sucking thing. I don't know what's wrong with it. It's not that old. It was purchased in december of last year and was only used once before I got it. It worked perfectly each time i used it. The last time I used it was about 2 weeks ago when I was on a trip. Brought it out for the first time since then, put all the parts together, and turned it on... and the noise is there but the sucking isn't. I'm frustrated because I know how expensive these pumps are and I really need it. Don't really want to go out and get a new one when this one is still brand new. And i don't want a manual one. Has anyone experienced this before and can you help me? thanks...

It sounds like you have a torn valve somewhere. I'm not familiar with this pump, but you probably have some little flexible pieces, right? Try replacing them. If you can't buy them where you bought the pump, you can probably order them off of the internet.

If you have to replace it, please go with a Medela or Ameda. These brands are better quality, and you get the best service. My sister in law used several off-brand pumps and she spent a fortune replacing them all the time. It would have been cheaper to buy a better brand.

I didn't have the Evenflo pump, but I did have the same problem with the one that I have. I called the manufacturer and they had me test the suction while I attached the different pieces one at a time to find out where the leak is. Then, they sent me a new piece for free. They determined that there must have been a small crack somewhere in the cone-shaped piece that goes on your breast.

Take it apart, clean it, and put it back together. Also some pumps have to have their pieces boiled from time to time for some reason. It has something to do with the seal.

If that doesn't work take it to a boutique style shop that sells pumps and cloth diapers and things like that. The salesperson will hopefully be able to help. Stores like Walmart just don't have the time or the expertise but the smaller shops tend to be very helpful.

It could be a build-up of dried milk somewhere in the pump. Take it back apart and soak all the pieces that come in contact with milk in vinegar for a couple hours. Rinse and try it again. Also be sure there are no holes or tears in the tubing.

i hear ya on the manual ones they are no fun take it from me. well i have the same pump and mine did the same thing so if i were you i would take it back to the store and tell them what is going on and they should exchange it for a new one. but you might just be missing the little rubber cover that goes on the breast attachment that was what was wrong with mine and when i got that it sucked very well for me so ya try that how it helps

I have a pump in style and it works great. It sounds as though there is a lack of seal somewhere.

You must have mis-assembled it. Take it all apart and re-assemble it to make sure everything is in the right spot and tight. Then, if you're still having problems, contact the manufacteror.
