why must other reactants (KI & H2SO4) be in large excess compared with H2O2?

Please help me with these science questions i've posted.

H2S is one of the most dangerous gases there is. It will suffocate and it numbs your smell ,so u think every thing is ok but it is not. At 10 ppm u should not be at this level for over 8 hours.
