The other day at work, my colleague was palm reading as a joke. I usually only resort to it as a joke. When she read my palm she said I bunch of things about me that I never talk about or I only talk about under the shield of anonimity on the Internet. Similar things ahppened witht eh rest of the colleagues. Now I'm spooked. Becuase she said some pretty amazing things about my future. Just out of curiousity, what has everyone else's experience been with palm reading?

I don't take it seriously. We were bored so we decided to do it.

She doesn't know my SN. I don't even use the same location or brithdate when talking abotu personal issues. And it wasn't the "future" telling that spooked me out. It was somethings she said taht she read about my past and present thatn spooked me out.

Yes, I've had a couple work acquaintances read my palm just for kicks. They really believed in it. They weren't able to provide any information that I could readily verify and only told me vague predictions of the future. To the extent that they were specific they erred, e.g., one predicted I'll have 3 kids when we already know that more kids are medically impossible for us.

In my opinion, palm reading incorporates some aspects of cold reading, in particular the vague predictions and the predictions that tend to be true of most people. And if the palm reader knows you, they can work in their personal knowledge of you into their predictions. It's just hocus pocus, that's all.

It depends on how you are doing the Tarot card reading. If your goal is to tell the future, the Christian God would not like that. If your goal is to see different ways of looking at a situation, He should be fine with it. Fortune cookies have no spiritual merit. God would be petty if he didn't allow some advice every now in then. Palm reading tells you a little about your personality. It almost never catches a glimpse into the future. You may want to avoid doing the "how many kids will you have" pseudo-reading both because its fortune telling and it is fake. ANY kind of divination (runes, tarot cards, ect) does not claim to tell the future, thus it is not witchcraft. And you shouldn't let what a 2000 year old book written out of fear douse your interests.

I have had 3 palm readings in my life. I find palmistry to be fascinating, as the lines change and reform on your hands through out life...just like your path changes so do your palms. Pretty cool.

The first experience I had was pretty general, until I asked the reader how many kids my husband and I would have. She said there was no way to be sure, but then later, she out of no where said "2 boys"...I said that's it, just 2? and no girls? she said, nope I only see 2 boys but you never know, God moves in mysterious ways...well, my husband and I in fact have just 2 boys. :)

The second was fun and confirmed the details of my life just nicely...and the third again confirmed things I already knew.

If you and your friend are just playing around though and she doesn't normally read palms, I would take it with a grain of salt.

Palmistry can be fun, but I don't take it seriously. I've read a couple of books on the subject so that I could use it as an ice-breaker at parties. It works really well. The best approach is to focus on the positive and look for humorous ways of doing the readings.

I always read what I see, and people do seem to be surprised by how accurate the readings are. So am I. The person who read your palm at work crossed a line--that kind of reading should only be done in private.

Palmistry is a tiresome skill involving memorizing huge amounts of facts along with multiple theories into it mysterious accuracy. These are mostly spiritual in nature, with the occasional obvious interpretation, for example: Damage to the nails denotes manual labor or working with chemicals, or it is scientifically proven that you can tell things about a persons health through discolorations. Genuine palmists (and this really is an established art form) have a substantially high accuracy in their readings and I don't think we will ever know for certain why it works.

My guess is you try to hide things from your colleagues, but you are more transparent than you know.
Either that, or you are hiding the typical things that most people hide.
Or she was being vague and using cold reading techniques, which she may have learned, or just picked up by immitating fortune tellers.

Palm reading itself is complete and utter nonsense, of course, you know that.

by the way, fortune telling is forbidden in the Bible, and is considered a sin in Gods eyes.

frankly,i never had a palm reading, and most probably never
will, but i know people that had and they had accurate readings, another say it was improbable for it to happen,so i think it is like everything in life, some people believe others don't,and maybe others say they do not believe at all,but they say this to the world, but deep inside they do.

Maybe she figured out your screen name. And to tell the truth, you really don't know if she is accurate or not about your future, since it hasn't happened yet. That's why they tell the future - you can't tell them they are wrong.
