Anybody know how i can get the steering stem locknuts undone on a gsx-r750k3. Suzuki have a special tool , part nos 09940-114911 and 09940-11960 but they cost over £90.00!!!!

Can anyone suggest an alternative, some one who sells something cheaper... or perhaps a large socket that can be modified with a dremel ???

Hi mate, you should buy yourself a set of pin punches and a 450 gram hammer, that is if they are the nuts that pre load your bearings on the steering stem and not the main nut that covers your top triple clamp.
If so, use the correct pin punch and give the top lock nut a good smack with your hammer. Don't hit the same place too much as you will burr over one area of the nut resulting in a damaged part.
If you have some steel a hacksaw and some files, try and make one yourself to ad to your tool collection.

Good luck!

Sure,,,You can beat it offa there.
A Pipe Wrench works.
Big channel lock pliers,,or vise grips will get it off too.

It's a Tuff job Grinding a socket,,and lottsa little Dremel Discs.
But that'll work.

There ARE some "generic tools" made for such jobs, however.
IF you wanna spend a few bucks,,and wait a few days to mail-order one.

Not unusual to find them locally for cheap in Pawn Shops also

Here's a few examples:

Note those are square-nosed hooks,,and Not round-pin.

Here's a list which shows how spanner wrenches are Sized.
May help you in determining exactly what size you need.

And there's these things

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Ooooo,,,I just noticed that "L" thing by the price in your question.

L for Limey,eh?? :)

Here's a couple of examples on Ebay UK

Search for "C-Spanner" at Ebay UK and you'll see a variety

Or even locally around any shoppes that sell tools & such.

The "Adjustable" or Hinged ones seem to fit & work better.

Make certain you select an appropriate size.
Measure the ring nut on your fork stem.
Needn't be Precise,,,these type wrenches are rather forgiving of sizes

I hope any of that's of any use.
Cheers

Using experience from clubs of other makes: does the suzuki owners club keep sets of tools like this for hire?

The top nut and washer do not have to be removed to install handlebars. The left & right handlebars are mounted to the fork tubes. If you just want to loosen the nut, loosen it with a socket and ratchet as you would with any fastener.

the alternative is the good old Suzuki Special Tools no1 and no2 (a hammer and a screwdriver).
Brutal yet effective.
