no I don't believe it's a memory problem. I experience it all the time. Especially with my freshman of college. I had dreams for a couple years prior to freshman year about friends of mine and places I'd never been. And consistently through the year I noticed it seemed so familiar and certain events and places were so familiar that I knew I'd been there before even though I hadn't . I believe our life is already planned out and well why wouldn't we have memories about the future if that makes sense. great question.

If you search further you'll find that you are correct, science doesn't know what causes deja vu or if it actually serves any purpose.

Some have speculated that it is part of the functioning of memory, but perhaps a glitch in the system. Or like looking at the red button when you're recording. You know you are recording but the red button confirms it.

A memory problem? No way. How can I be in place I have never been before and have a deja vu? In a foreign country on my first visit? What the he!! is that if it's not deja vu. And no it was not Amsterdam and no I was not stoned.
