Growing up, I had many paranormal encounters. It was quite common, to say the least. My grandparents were devout Catholics and had 15 children (all of whom were greatly respected in society). Each of them had a story or two to tell of their own about the house they grew up in. It was right down the lane from the house my grandparents lived in when I was a child. Often times when we would have a get-together at the new house, it would be full of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I cannot count the number of times when I would be sitting in a room full of people, and all of a sudden a single drop of water would fall from above and land on me. It would always strike me as odd. I mean, how many times is that going to happen to a person? It happened all the time to me. In the basement, it was terrible. You always had the sensation that someone was watching you, but not just watching you. It was as though they were mad as hell and had a butcher knife or an ax in hand. Very creepy! No matter how many cousins of mine were running around, it never seemed to fail that I was always the one my grandmother would stop and ask to go and get something out of the freezer in the basement. The freezer itself was creepy and sat across the wine cellar my grandfather had down there. The cellar's doorway was draped with a thick curtain. The freezer was an older model and despite the countless number of times I ever had to get something out of there, I could never get the thing open. I'd always end up running back up the stairs empty handed and I'd explain to my grandmother that I couldn't work the handle. She always came down there with me after that and on her first try, she'd always get it open. Anytime I ever witnessed someone getting in that freezer, they always managed to have no problems whatsoever. I hated that basement and I wasn't the only one. Looking back, I recall different ones of my aunts and uncles who wouldn't go down there for this excuse or that excuse. It makes sense to me now. They knew what was going on but they weren't about to tell any of the children. When I was a senior in high school, I lived with my grandparents. Lo and behold, my bedroom was in the basement directly across from the wine cellar. On many occasions, after arriving home from school, my grandparents would be out and about in town. I would believe myself to be home alone, and when I finally mustered up the courage to go downstairs to my room, I'd reach the bottom of the stairs and find my uncle Bruce (the youngest of the 15) standing in his room. I'd often say, "Hey, what's up?", and he would always mumble something to which I couldn't understand. I'd proceed to my own room always feeling that something was odd. Moments later or hours later, I'd hear the back door upstairs open and it would be him returning home from his day. I'd ask him if he was there earlier. He'd always tell me no and that he'd been gone all day or for some length of time. After awhile of this happening, when I'd see him at the bottom of the stairs on those occasions, needless to say, I quit saying hi. I get chills now just thinking of this. There was a bathroom down there that was between the cellar and my bedroom. I always had this feeling that someone was waiting for me at the door. Every time I would take a bath, if I happened to have a small cut on me or even a hangnail, when I ran my finger under the running water, I would get this electrical shocking sensation where the cut would be. I always thought it was weird. I finally got around to telling my grandparents about it and they called in an electrician to see if there was a problem of some sort. He came with his equipment one day and his report was that everything was normal. Knowing what I was experiencing and that he was an electrician, I then asked him what I could possibly be experiencing because I knew what I was feeling. He couldn't explain it to me, and said that the level of electricity from the hot water heater was in no way enough for anyone to be shocked by it in the tub. Another weird thing! At some point in my life, I had heard somewhere or another that ghosts were attracted to water and electricity. Hence, a hot water heater. A few years ago, my grandmother had passed away. My children and I went to stay the night with my grandfather after that. It was myself, my children, my uncle Frank, and my grandfather who were there that evening. It had been a terribly hot summer day, and my children and I were to sleep in the attic that was remodeled into a bedroom. Prior to going to bed, my uncle suggested that I open the door and start letting the cool air reach its way up there. Later, after we were all sleeping, I had awoke and needed to use the bathroom. I made my way downstairs and all was quiet. I came back up the stairs and made my way back into the bed. As I was just about to go into that first stage of sleep, I heard what I believed was my grandmother, and she called out my name as if she was calling for me at the bottom of the stairs. I jumped from my sleep and sat up in the bed saying, "Yeah!", in response. As quickly as it happened, I knew my grandmother had passed away and that there was not even another female in the house. Very weird! I went back to sleep and the next morning as the kids and I were gathering our things ready to head downstairs, I had one last thing to do. I needed to turn off the night light on the dresser. It was a mother Mary nightlight with one of those 'wheel' type of switches on the cord. The kids were on the stairs already heading down. I had my bag in hand and told the kids that I'd be right there. I walked toward the dresser and turned the nightlight off. I turned around and headed toward the stairs, but something told me to turn around. As I did, I noticed the nightlight was turned back on. Needless to say, I just left it on, and I quickly left the room. The next day, I told my mother about my experiences. She said, "You are not going to believe this, but your aunt Linda (who lived with my grandparents prior to my grandmother's death), had told me before that she use to hear voices that would call out her name in the middle of the night during her sleep." I was so creeped out! Another incident happened about two years ago in my own home. My husband and children were gone that day out shopping and doing this and that. I had decided to lay down and take a nap. After having slept for an hour or so, I awoke with the sensation that a glass of water was thrown in my face. As I sat up in bed, my face and hair was soaking wet, and no, it wasn't sweat or slobber. It was exactly as if water had been poured on my face. Very creepy! One day after having first moved here, I was again home alone. I was going through some of our boxes and unpacking them. I was so happy that day as we were settling into our new home. As I sat in the floor, I had this sensation as if something bit me on my a**. I kind of thought that maybe it was a bug or something that made its way into my pants, but the sensation quickly went away and I disregarded it. A few moments later, I felt it again, but only a little more. At this point, I surely thought that it was maybe a spider or something. I proceeded to the bathroom to take a look in the mirror at my a**. I was absolutely horrified at what I saw! There were distinctly 5 rows of scratch marks about 6 inches long across my a**, and they were oozing bits of blood. My heart was beating so fast! I got the he** out of there as fast as I could. I do not recall getting my shoes on, but I made my way to a neighbors house and called my mother. I went outside with the phone and told my mother what had happened, knowing that she would believe me. She and my step-dad came out the next day and I didn't hesitate to bring my mother into the bathroom with me to show her the marks. I will never forget the look on her face when she saw it. I remember telling her that I couldn't have even done it to myself unknowingly, as my fingernails are so very short. She knew and she believed me. That comforted me, to say the least. The evening before this incident, I had watched a show on the Discovery channel about this husband and wife who were experiencing weird phenomenon in their home. The husband was getting these types of strange marks on him also. So, it was weird, that after the fact, I had the same thing happen to me. When I recalled the show, it made me feel better knowing I was not alone in my experience. Lately, the water faucet in the master bath has been turning itself on. I always know that it's not my children or husband, as they will be in the other room. Very weird. Well, I'm sure I could think of some other things, but I've nearly written a book already. Maybe I will write a book! lol Sorry if all this freaks you out, but you did ask. Just imagine how it has freaked ME out! Shewww! lol Some things are just mysterious and life goes on anyway. Take care and have a nice day!

I have seen spirit shadows most of my life. This is not a good thing as 80% of them are malevolent and don't like being spied on. Strange things occur in my household all the time. The most recent and particularly annoying is that I cannot leave liquids in the refrigerator overnight. I bought a half rack of beer last night and drank half. The other half was empty, unopened cans this morning. I have to leave the keys in my car because if I bring them inside, I will have to search for hours to find them. One set is still lost and I had to have new ones made. Cigarette lighters disappear all the time. I can put one on the table, turn around for some reason and it is gone when I look back, seconds later. I wish this were something as simple to solve as demonic infestation or a poltergeist, but it isn't either one of those. It is apparently just me. I had a Kirlian photograph taken of me once and my aura was angry red and tinged with black. Not sure if that means anything. Despite all this, I am a very positive person, so none of this makes sense. One can either take it all in stride or go crazy. I chose the former option.

I believe I have, not that I would put any scientific merit to it, but I use to see shadows and hear strange noises in my house. Like once I was in my room and I got up to go get a snack and I saw in the corner of my eye a person or what I can only describe as a shadow of a person, and I thought it was my sister who had gotten home from her friend's early, so I looked up to say hi, and their was nobody there so I looked through each room and nothing, I was home alone still, I ignored it of course, but that was the first of many strange things that strated to happen. I was in the bathroom one day and I heard some one knock at the door in which I said hold on I'll be out in a minute. I heard the knocking again, so I got pissed thinking like what's their problem, so I asked is it an emergency? And no one anwsered so I was like ok what ever, then I heard the knocking again and in the middle of the knocking I open the door ready to kill who ever was there but there was no one, so I was scared but I shrugged it off and I didn't shut the door but it was just like slightly opened and I heard the knocking again and I opened the door quickly again and again it was no one and I almost shitted myself. This was when we had just bought the house and since then many years have passed, we even had the house blessed and I haven't seen or heard anything since those first two years, thank god =D

I saw ghosts all the time when i was living in the USA, but not as much where i live right now. As for the "Grudge" movie, its just a kid that wants to be a cat and the mom likes to bite people. Dont relate that movie to ghosts.

I never saw an actual ghost but I did see a ghost ship a long time ago, in a small bay behind my dad's house. My dad has seen a ghost of a priest, heard the scream of the banshee many times and my grandad had seen the ghost of a pirate telling him of the buried treasure that was located nearby his home.

I was at an old mansion a few hours' drive from my house, and I was part of a guided tour of the place. I was walking down the grand staircase in the center of the house, at the back of my group. The other people were all resting their fingertips on the railing, acting as though they were royalty or something, and I went to do the same, just for fun. It got really cold as we reached the bottom of the stairs, and I had this wierd feeling of "Hey. What are you doing here? You don't belong here." for the rest of the tour. I am an architecture/history FREAK, and I had really been looking forward to seeing the mansion, but after the staircase, I just couldn't wait to get out of there!
My mom asked me about it later: she said my face had gone kind of pale for the rest of the afternoon. Plus, some of the other members of the tour group kept looking over their shoulders as though they thought someone was watching them. It was one of the creepiest days of my life.

Yes..... he was wearing old horse Calvary pants (blue with the strip down the side) and black boots that came up just below the knees. He was wearing a white shirt with no collar and had long hair (an inch or two above the shoulder). He would watch me and when I would see him out of the corner of my eye and when I turn to look at him, he would step into another room. If I went into that room he wasn't there. As long as I didn't turn to look at him I could watch him out of the corner of my eye.

After my grandma died, everyone in my family (except me) have seen her at some point - standing in a doorway, waking up in the middle of the night to find her standing next to them, dreaming about her, and all that. But it's not scary kind've ghost stuff, it's just... seeing her.

well you all can have your opinion but it's pretty stupid to just say that they dont exist. there is to much proof and evidence for it not to be real. i'm a very spiritual person and have seen many ghosts. i mosty see them when i do astral project (if you dont know what that is, it's when your able to seperate your spirit body from your normal body).
