In fact, the GBP is a little stronger compared to the USD than it has been in recent times. However, your question is a bit like asking: Which is worth more? Twenty nickels or one dollar? Twenty sounds like more than one, but you're comparing different monetary denominations. If the basis of U.S. currency were not the ONE dollar bill but, instead, was the TWO dollar bill, then the USD and the GBP would be on par with one another.

If you are visiting in Great Britain, then just remember that something marked GBP20 will cost you USD40. Now, would you pay more or less than $40 for it at home?

In fact, I have found that something that typically costs $20 at home will cost GBP20 in Great Britain. In other words, what would cost me $20 at home will cost me $40 in Britain. So I only purchase in Britain if I find a really good bargain or sale. Or if I find something that I just must have and absolutely can not find in the U.S.

It can be confusing.

It means the Dollar is weak, but sterling has always been a very strong currency. When your president borrowed 8 trillion dollars for war, he weakened the strength of your money, against other countries currencies because inflation had to rise dramatically.
