If people never really change, what makes their true nature come to the surface?

I know I say "once a cheater, always a cheater". Hell, I almost preach this misquote. But, the truth is, the human spirit is resilient. It's bold and daring. It will change if enough cause is thrown at it. My misquote is a burden I have to live with. Please don't be purposely burdened with yours. "If people never change". Listen, people tend to focus on your answers and your questions for a reason. Wisdom, pure and simple. Those in confusion are naturally drawn to it, those of like intelligence want to mimic it. Don't be like me and lower yourself to less than what you are! There are too many people that like you!

I agree with Mike; I've seen it happen and it's a wonder. I do believe that a lot depends on the moral fiber that's there to begin with. Many people don't realize it's there---in others or in themselves.
I think that often it's a time of crisis that will bring the true nature to the surface. It's very sad that it's often extreme crisis, hitting bottom, that's what it takes. But sometimes what emerges is worth it all.
