I was recently doing my grocery shopping at a popular discount foodmart. Many people go there because the prices are lower. This particular day, the man in front of me was disagreeing with the cashier about the price of a carton of eggs. Anyways he placed the eggs into his shopping cart, but afterwards threw it back to the cashier and said he didn't want it. In the process of throwing, one egg was cracked. The cashier said she could not take it back because one egg was damaged by him. The man said meanly, "It's only one broken, so what!" The cashier called the manager and the cashier explained what happened. I said I saw it too. The man yelled at me "Shut up!" His wife was behind him and also told me to shut up. The manager said it's just one egg. It's not worthwhile to make a scene or let it hold up the line. The wife then paid for the bill with a hundred dollar bill. The couple left in a state of anger. It's obvious they are rich people because I saw them drive away in a luxury car.

I agree with you. Not about the rich versus poor situation anyone these days can carry a hundred dollar bill and drive a luxury car. Many people where I live drive their Lexus and BMW's to the food stamp office. What I agree with is that you spoke up. There was NO excuse for that man to act like he did. I think that the store manager should have gotten the couples tag number, then left it up to the clerk who was actually assaulted when the man threw something at her, as to whether or not to call and make a police report. As I said, there is no excuse for being rude or threatening to service workers. I have spoken up several times when someone was giving a clerk or an employee at a burger place a hard time over something silly. Good for you.

Many people have hundred dollar bills in their pocket and drive luxury cars, but that doesn't mean they are "obviously rich". And even if they were, they were having a 1 on 1 dispute with the cashier as a representative of the grocery store. Why did you feel the need to become involved and intervene? Because they were paying with a $100 bill?

It amazes me that people won't "mind their own business" and yet brag how they could "start a riot" as if THAT would resolve anything at all. So a simple dispute could turn into a riot?

Well now, aren't you the goody 2 shoes, how brave you are.

I think it bothered you that they had money and I'd put money on it that they were probably old folks so you figured there wouldn't be any retaliation.

I'm saying that because all the men that I know wouldn't have turned around and just told you to shut up; they would have turned around and decked you for sticking your nose in their business.

There'd be more than a broken egg for you to worry about because you'd have to go get your nose reset!

In that case, I definitely agreed to the manager. Its only an egg and so just let it go. But the man tells you to shut up! That's bad! I'm not sure what I'll do. I guess it depends on my mood. If I was with a group of friends, we'd probably gang up on that couple. If I was alone then I'd be a by-stander. It's only psychological to watch if you are alone, but with a group, a riot could start! lol

Why mention you think they are rich, what has that got to do with this question? Rich or poor, it is the shop to deal with their customers and not yours. Now if they ask for your help, that's a different matter, but then why would they.
Just get on with your shopping and your own business.

You witnessed what happened, and you spoke up. Good for you! You did what was right, so let it go.
The man and his wife are not happy people. Even if they have lots of money, they're being cheap and mean. I think they're poor in terms of lifestyle.

why did you feel the need to poke youre nose it , its nothing to do with you , and how shallow of you to mention if they were rich or not thats nothing to do with it, maybe next time you go shopping go late at night when noones around you don't seem to be very tolerant of others .

The only proper response to aggression is immediate
and superior aggression...
I personaly give a damn how much money someone has...The only response that I can use when someone tells me to shut up is,"Kiss my ****!"...
