That would be a medical miracle. Nobody has ever "overdosed" on pot.

That's not an overdose. If the story is true (which there are issues about it that make it sound fabricated), then he was allergic to pot.
Liberals advocate the legalization of marijuana because while it is less harmful than alcohol in so many ways (ie drunk drivers go too fast and hit people, high drivers drive very slowly and carefully; crime typically involves other drugs, pot smokers don't carjack or mug people for money to buy more pot), it would open the door for industrial hemp.
If we could once again grow industrial hemp on a massive scale, it could help the environment, slow down global warming, produce MANY materials at a much lower cost (did you know you can not only make clothing and rope from hemp, but pressboard for walls, paint to paint them, the pipes for plumbing, the list goes on...).
The constitution was printed on hemp paper. In England it was once part of the law that EVERY farm holding had to dedicate a portion of their acreage to growing hemp. Hemp is an amazing fiber. And industrial hemp is grown differently than marijuana and contains no THC. But because of DuPont and other companies in the 30s (could be the teens, can't quite remember), the government made the growing of hemp illegal, to help out the companies that were supporting them. Similar to energy companies today. Why don't we have more electric cars on the road? Because Big Oil is in bed with the government.

Timothy, I do not want to say anything to offend you on this matter. So do not take this personally.
I do not smoke Marijuana. But I have many years past. And I learned that by smoking pot it helped me relax. Not just me but everyone I knew that smoked pot. I have never in my life heard of anyone dying of smoking marijuana. But I do believe you. I once read in the paper about 20 years ago about this healthy conscience person eating a McDonald's burger and dying from it. Nothing was wrong with the burger. it was just that this individual took very good care of himself by eating healthy food all the time. His body could not take the burger.
Today many people take depression meds that may help or aggravate their situation. Some of these people have committed suicide from these meds.
I personally think that marijuana should be legal for this purpose. It relaxes most persons.
this is just my opinion.

Apparently the marijuana cigarette was laced with another substance - which unfortunately is very common. This is not a problem caused by liberals. Many conservative politicians, police officials, and drug counselors advocate the legalization of marijuana so that the government can control it and prevent things like this from happening. Making marijuana illegal has not stopped its use and never will. I lost my 19 year old nephew a few years ago due to a stupid accident that happened while he and some other boys were drinking and riding in the back of a pick-up truck. There are laws in our state that prohibit both things - but that did not save him. I am so sorry for your loss. It hurts when things like this happen and we want to find someone or something to blame.

Numerous scientific studies from around the world have conclusively proven that marijuana is a relatively benign recreational herb for most healthy adults. It also has thousands of applications as a medicine. If your cousin died, as you claim, as result, at least in part, of smoking marijuana, then he almost certainly had some type of congenital defect that made him unfit to consume marijuana. Otherwise, he would be absolutely the first death EVER IN THE SPAN OF RECORDED HISTORY to have died from marijuana use. There are people for whom marijuana is contraindicated, such as people with mental problems and, of course, anyone who is NOT a legal adult.
Of course, this is an internet forum and you could just as easily be lying for your own twisted agenda.

Went in to convulsions from smoking pot?
It doubtful he was smoking pot, if he was this might be the only death of its kind. I only wish you had added more details like your cousin's name, date and place of death and who issued the death certificate.
The convulsions make it sound like it was angel dust not pot.
I am sorry to hear about your cousin but all drugs are dangerous.
Every year in the USA alone 250,000 people will die an early death from tobacco.
Ten to fifteen thousand with die from the effects of alcohol, not including deaths by drunk drivers or other similar accidents.
Three to four thousand a year still die from cocaine abuse and not quite as many die from overdoses of heroin and other opiates.
A couple of thousand more die every year from prescription drugs.
The last time I read anything by the DEA or CDC they both estimated death by pot nationwide was less than 10 per year and many refute that number as artificially high. I'm still yet to see a coroner issue a death certificate attributing anyone's death to pot.
Once again sorry about your cousin. It is a shame that as a 19 year old adult he couldn't say no. If he only had the right support from his friends, family and church, he might of had the confidence to say no and walk out of the situation you described. Since he is dead, we'll never know why he want to be at that party instead of staying at home.

Do you just post this same stupid lie every couple of weeks? Come on. Unless your fictional cousin was mainlining straight THC gas into his veins, there's no way he (or anyone else) would OD on weed. On the other hand, marijuana has proven medicinal effects, which help cancer patients, AIDS patients and many others lead better lives. Take your rhetoric to the GOP national convention. Or at least the politics answers page.

Reminds me of this kid Harry Balsac, he always said he was being followed and getting everyone concerned. Then he would say he was only kidding. Well, finally, one day he disappeared! All that was left in his bed was a pack of zig-zag papers and an empty zip-lock baggy, and a stained sheet. Till this day, almost five years, his parents still hope that he will find his way back from his Young Republicans meeting, his last known destination. (probably got so stoned he forgot where he lived. Sad, but, true, really)

first off, its not that bad to leave a 19-year-old unattended. its not like they are infants, heck the kid can live on his own. And while you tell a sad story, couldnt the same thing have happened with alcohol poising? In fact, dont we see stories of college frat parties where kids die each year from too much liqour?
You tell a story of a man, not a child at 19, who mad a bad decision and paid for it with his life.

It's not an overdose. You can't die from od on pot, and its one puff. People can die of Marijuana, but it's rare. The main medical fear of marijuana, is it causes heart problems. It is most likely lace with something, by your discription. People react differently to drugs. As to why, well it takes the fight from people. My feeling is that the poor would be rioting on the streets a lot more if Pot wasn't so prevalent. I guess the liberals figure its another product that they can sell and to help calm the public on the hopelessness of their future.

People believe in legalisation because they believe the problems associated with keeping it criminalised outweigh the problems associated with making it legal - for instance if cannabis was legal it could be regulated (i.e. not cut), taxed and above all else the supply would be taken out of the exclusive hands of criminal gangs.
Your story is sad, but a similar thing could have happened with many different substances - if you are allergic enough to something to give you anaphylaxis you will die, even if it's something as harmless as a piece of cake. You would only ever get a reaction this severe to cannabis if you were SERIOUSLY allergic to it.
I think kids should learn to say no to many different substances, not just the illegal ones. However, it is a sad fact of life that people will continue to use them regardless of their legality.
