I remember being younger and cleaning my bedroom with my mom, and I found a quarter on the floor, and threw it right in the trash. You would have thought I burned a $100 bill the way my mom reacted. I couldn't understand why she was so upset then, but, looking back, I now realize that, at the time, being 12, I was living under my parents' roof, and off af their money, and it was a slap in thh face to just throw away money, despite the value. I guess now it would depend on whether the quarter I lost was my last quarter, or if I had a whole pocketfull. Ultimeately, you're correct; its only 25 cents, but if its all you have, its a lot.

I love quarters. They buy things out of vending machines. They help with the laundry. They're great for playing the game of quarters. I'd almost rather have four quarters than a dollar bill. But for some reason I couldn't care any less about a dollar coin.

it is a big deal if you live paycheck to paycheck and are broke. Shouldn't we appeciate the small things? Finding a quarter makes me happy as I would be upset for loosing one. But I am the kind of person who tries not to take the small things for granted

i don't but i can see how many many would. those quarters add up fast. four of them can buy someone some needed food like a mcdonalds burger or taco bell taco.
i was at walmart yesterday. guy went into snack bar (blimpies)and asked for a water cup to get water from soda machine. they wouldn't give him one cuz he didn't have a dime to pay for the cup. bet he wished he had that lost quarter.
btw: yes i paid the dime for him and cussed out the cashier for not giving the poor boy some water. it was 90 degrees outside. he was eating a sandwhich from there and it took all his cash. so not like he was begging.

Because when you work hard for your money, every penny counts. and $0.25 is a big deal when you don't have alot to begin with. How rich are you that you don't appreciate the value of things?

Quarters are money!

it only takes losing one to keep you from getting a coke, washing clothes, playing pool...

and as a mother of a 4 year old....quarters are pretty important to them!

By "we" you must mean "some people" because I don't even notice when I lose a quarter, let alone get upset.

25 cents is the most useful small amount of money you will ever get. Ever tried to get a snack when hungry or make a phone call with 25 pennies?
