Between us, we have bad credit rating, ccj's etc (which we are desperately attempting to clear)so cant get cheque accounts either jointly or individually.
What effect will this have on him trying for a Business Account which he will need to go self employed?

We do realize that Michael B, but thanks anyway. He's basically fed up where he is, fed up with 'to many chiefs'(he is a site foreman with a steel erecting company and would like to go into Landscape Gardening/Tree house building. The gardening side he did many years ago but as a basic gardener for his brothers small company), and wants to venture out into what he enjoys and loves doing.

Had a similar situation when I became self-employed with my home based business. I just incorporated the business, got a tax id number, and was able to open a banking account and business credit card acct. Hope that helps

Quite a lot I would think although it is not a personal account the account could be misused for personal reasons so the bank may have reservations
