Why is everyone so upset about how easy paris got off??? She didn't hurt anyone???
Actually I believe she got away far too easy, but to make my point I said it that way.
If one is upset with that, WHY aren't you upset with the way ted kennedy got away with man slaughter?? Why is he still in the senete and why hasn't anyone called for him to be in prison??

Because in LA, celebrities get off of crimes easier than average people. Paris is unfortunate in that she hadn't earned her fame, because she was famous for being related to the Hilton family.

As for Ted Kennedy, I don't think he was formally charged for the crime. I think it was too many extenuating circumstances for there to be a charge brought against him. He's in the Senate because people in Massachusetts are too afraid to replace him for they like their entitlements too much to do so.

Paris Hilton's offenses are not the issue; the fact that celebrities and wealthy individuals seem to be above the law is. When someone believes they can walk away from a sentence--regardless in what magnitude--after serving only a fraction of the sentenced time makes a mockery of our justice system. That some law enforcement officials permit it to happen degrades the service in which they serve.

All Americans have a right to be offended.

I honestly don't think many who are responding remember Chapaquidick. Hell, I can't even spell it! Nevertheless, I do remember it. What actually happened will, I think, remain a mystery; however, Senator Kennedy was at least legally absolved of wrong doing.

We have to remember that that was a long time ago; Ms. Hilton's episode was last week.

With the modern forensics available today, Mr. Kennedy might not have become Senator Kennedy. Or, he could have been completely absoved once and for all.

There are too many people listening to hearsay about a sad event from a long time ago [in a galaxy far, far away].

What we have with Ms. Hilton is fact; what we have with Senator Kennedy is innuendo, albeit with a dead young woman.

1969 was a different time and the powers that be concluded that the Kennedy family had been througn enough with 2 high profile and public assassinations. If Teddy was arrested, he would not have been convicted by a jury of his peers in light of the tragedy he experienced. Ted Kennedy and Paris Hilton are like night and day.

The California legal system has been broken and dysfunctional for decades - maybe since California became a state. Mike Tyson spent 4 months in a Montgomery County (MD) jail cell without the problems that Hilton had. Mike Tyson is a bigger head case than Paris Hilton BUT he respected the authority of the jail and MD does not allow jail officials to release people willy nilly like the LA Sheriff's office. Montgomery County built a "super cell" from 3 cells, allowed Tyson to bring in a large screen TV, audio system, weights - all were graciously dontated to the jail upon release.

Well, mostly because Paris Hilton only got her get-out-of-jail-free card because she's rich and famous. If you or I were in prison and got sick like she did, we would go to the prison infirmary to be treated by the doctor on staff, not home to mommy and daddy.

As far as Ted Kennedy, I'm absolutely disgusted with what he did at Chappaquiddick, and I believe that he got the same special treatment for that as Paris Hilton is getting for her probation violation/DUI.

Just because you're rich and famous does NOT mean that you're above the law, and we should execute our laws equally for everyone regardless of your social status. I think the main reason for the disparity between Hilton and Kennedy is that Hilton's offense happened a couple weeks ago, while Kennedy's was almost 40 years ago, and we're all an impatient people with a deficient long-term memory, and we demand immediate results for everything.

First, You can take it to the bank that there were plenty of people who would gladly have turned the key on a cell for Ted Kennedy. But the event was finally termed a tragic accident.

Second Well I don't think she got off easy. She violated her license suspension twice and finally was hauled back into court. I think the sentence was just. It was obvious that she thought she was above the law by continuing to drive. Being sentenced to jail time was a lesson to her that she isn't better than the rest of the world.

By the sheriff going against the judges explicit order that her sentence was due to be carried out In Jail with no work passes, no home detention the sheriff was at great fault for allowing her to go home with out specific order of the judge.

It's the fact that Americans now know the truth about our "fractured" criminal justice system. I think they got a taste of it during OJ Simpson's assault on the system and it was furthered by the Michael Jackson brouhaha. I am PAST being upset with her; I am more upset with the way things are handled in America these days. What gave the sheriff the idea he was important enough to let her go at 2 AM on Thursday? The court ordered jail and for how long and he turned around and ignored the order. What happens to us if we ignore orders from our bosses? We get terminated. Ok, he is no better.
I think people in America have things confused and the things I am talking about is POWER and INFLUENCE. The sheriff had neither!

The only people who give a rolling crapola about that spoiled, empty-headed little bimbo are the 13 - early 20 years olds.

The adults and the people with some degree of maturity - those who have a life couldn't possible care less....

She and the whole incident is totally irrelevant to any grown up activity or thought.

Paris is irrelevant, what all this shows is the total breakdown of a supposed family that teaches there brat she can do anything she wants and one of her "people" will take care of it, she is a total waste of time, space and oxygen. As to the other piece of wast, I've long said that he is guilty of criminally negligent homicide, but the loser left and all the money {made in boot legging} has kept him free, and then look at the state that continues to put him in office................

We've become a nation of sheep. We're outraged when we're told to be outraged and we accept things when we're told to.

I'm not surprised, we've all gone to government mandated schools and taught to respond as our government wishes.

Why does Kennedy have to be drug into this. And speaking of drugs, why doesn't anyone mention Bush and his love for cocaine and booze?

Did you see where he's "back on the sauce" ?

I bet if you drug tested Bush he'd show positive for coke , too.
