I saw a new commercial, where he kept messing up his lines. I thought he died a long time ago?

He passed away a long time ago. What youre watching is Madison Ave. sick attempt at getting more customers to his popcorn by showing lost footage of his bloopers.(The Tupac theory doesnt work well in tv commercials)
