George Washington, our nation's first President. The only one close to that I think would be Abraham Lincoln

Was there one? If you are looking for the president who supposedly didn't/couldn't lie then you're looking for either George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

However, the story about Washington and the Cherry Tree is a fabrication devised to exult the first president in the eyes of his people. It is completely fictional, and it wan well be assumed that Washington would not have come as far as he did in the military/politics without telling at least a "little white" lie.

As far as Lincoln goes, he is known as Honest Abe because of his dealings within the law while he was a practicing Kentucky Lawyer, yet the man was a complete phony. Most people believe Lincoln was a great president because he signed the Emancipation Proclimation, yet in reality he was completely full of it. If you read the Emancipation closely, you will see that it only frees the slaves in the southern states, not in the northern states where slavery was still practiced, neither in those border states whaere it was i.e. Maryland. Further, Lincoln also is quated as saying that if he could have kept slavery and preserved peace, he would have done it. Ergo, the biggest thing for which Lincoln is remembered is false.

So, have we had any who didn't lie? I would say...no

Washington was the young boy who would not tell a lie, but he never cut down a cherry tree. The story of the tree was created as a way to portray that he wouldn't lie.

Abe Lincoln was a man of honest values. He had high morals and wouldn't rip people off. He represented in courts as an honest lawyer. He was one of the few good presidents.

George Washington comes to mind first, with the cherry tree story, but Abraham Lincoln is also referred to as Honest Abe.

The story is about George Washington saying that he could not tell a lie. Unfortunately the story was just made up.

In addition to George Washington, who "never told a lie," I vote for Calvin Coolidge. He was known for never saying anything at all.

Well, it is my understanding that Washington had that reputation, but some people say that that was because he never filled out a tax form
