Does anyone have advice for starting an NGO?

My husband and I want to start an NGO, does anyone have any experience or advice they could share with us? We are still at the concept phase, but have no experience with starting an organization. Thanks!

NGO is a very broad term. NGOs serve a wide variety of causes. Some rely on volunteers, others, on sponsors, yet others, on both. Which kind are you?
