Automatic you fill through the dipstick tube. Manual you have to get under the car and on the passengers side there is a plug 24mm I think and you fill it from there.

What kind of car. Most domestics fill through the dipstick tube for the transmission. You need a long necked funnel that is small enough to go into the tube. If manual trans, there is normally two fill/drain screws on the side of the transmission. The bottom is drain, the top is fil;l. Most times you drain and refill until you can feel the fluid on the top plug hole with your baby finger. Consult owners manual for exact fill quantity. Really need to know make and model to be exact.

Normally filled through the trans filler tube (where the dipstick goes down to check the fluid level).

Toward the firewall (windshield), I believe its on the left or right side. The dipstick handle is round and is colored RED.

In order to answer your question properly, it would help if you provided the year, make, model, and drivetrain information of the vehicle you are referring to.
