A recent newspaper columnist recently published a plan to make this trade. Because of Torii's impending contract, and what theYankees and Rangers still owe A-rod, he says that in theory Minnesota could have A-rod for at least 3 years for less than they would need to consider for Hunter, maybe far lass.

Is this a viable theory?

Is it likely that either side would pursue it?

Your thoughts?

Good question, and in theory the trade might make sense for Minnesota, but I don't see the Yanks parting ways with A-Rod, despite any talk about it. I think they want A-Rod, and I think A-Rod loves and needs the big stage in NY. At the end of the day there's nowhere he'd rather be, and he's coming through for the Yankees this year so I think both sides are happy. As much of a force as Hunter is, especially this year, I don't see it happening. Interesting theory though.

It would never work, The Yankees would not trade A-Rod for Hunter. There is no Possible way this could ever happen. Remember, A-Rod can opt out of his contract after this year but some team will still have to sign him to another long term contract and the Twins will not pay the kind of money knowing they will have to do something with Santana soon.

Minnesota is gonna need to throw in more than Torii Hunter, because the Yankees still want to have a shot at making the playoffs this year, and without A-Rod they have absolutely no chance.

2 bad the Yankees will never go after a guy like Torii Hunter. He's not that good. The Yankees would rather keep A - Rod than 2 trade 4 a bum like him.

No. Hunter have been given the Twins to the 2002 ALCS, 4 AL needed Titles in 5 years, 7 Gold Gloves, and a pair of All-megastar appearances. he's the suited to take place to the Twins provided that Kirby and Kent. If the followers on the Metrodome on March thirty first boo Hunter, that in basic terms shows how immature and disrespectful they're in direction of the suited centerfielder in baseball and excellent Twins interior the final 10 years. do no longer boo Hunter. supply him a standing ovation. Be respectful, no longer trashy.

Don't want him. Hunter is one of the best centerfielders in the game. Arod is good, but he's a primadona diva. Minnesota is all about their home grown talent. We don't need A Rod.

If Hunter isn't going to be re signed, the Twins should send him someplace, where they can at least acquire a 3rd baseman, a maybe a centerfielder to replace him.

The Twins are a small market team: Why would they pay A-Rod's huge salary, when they already have an awesome player, who they could have for less (but not a lot)? I don't think they will.

That may be the dumbest thing that I have ever heard, just my thoughts... A Rod is an albatross

It won't happen. The Twinkies - and about 28 of 30 MLB teams - are too cheap to take on Rodriguez's salary.
