That's a good question, I just realized that whenever I put mascara on I open my mouth. I don't know why. I did hear once though that by sticking out your tongue while putting on eye liner and whatnot it will keep your eye from blinking. So maybe it's a steadying thing....

It actually raises our eyelids a bit when we have our mouths open. Every woman knows how annoying it is to get mascara anywhere else but on our eyelashes. It's the last thing we put on, so if it gets where it's not supposed to be, we have to redo!

haha, I never really realized that I do this. Because we have to open our eyes as wide as we can, and we feel we can do this with our mouth open. I don't know if it helps or not, I will have to see the next time I put mascara on.

That is such aninteresting question, I have wondered it my self, I think that when you open your mouth your cheeks go down and makes it easy to put mascara without staining your skin.
Just an idea! Good luck

I can. But I have to stretch my jaw far down. lol
The skin around our eyes gets bunched up, and mascara will get everywhere. So we open our mouths to smooth out the skin.

We can, but opening the mouth pulls the muscles around the eyes taut which enables one to coat the entire eyelash from root to tip and prevents blinking.

Good question! We think it helps us not blink so we can put it on easier. That of course is a lie. I put it on once with my mouth closed, and did it just fine. Now it's a habit!

I have actually tried it and was able to do it, but I had to think about it. It's just a reflex for some reason to open your mouth while applying it.

Think of the female brain as an internal combustion engine. More air in, more air out, better performance. It obviously takes extreme concentration to put that stuff on, therefore more air is needed to run the "engine".
