I have been using provera for 3 days. The reason why my doctor gave me Provera was because I haven't had my period for 3 months. She wanted to induce my menstral cycle. I have PCOS, I had unprotected sex twice on my 3rd day of Provera. Is there a possiblity of me getting pregnant? Thanks.

The hormone in the Provera, progesterone, is the same hormone your body produces immediately following ovulation to tell the ovaries to not release any more eggs. So, in theory, you will not release any eggs--or ovulate--once you begin the Provera. But on the very very rare occassion that you did release an egg and it did get fertilized then most likely it would be flushed out when you stop taking the provera and have the withdrawl bleed.

If provera is a birth control pill, then YES. I mean, there is a 1% chance of getting pregnant on birth control any time, but in the first three days you have virtually no protection. The hormones haven't been in your system long enough to suppress ovulation. Most doctors will tell you to use a backup method (condoms) for the first whole month to give the pill time to start working. They DO NOT work the first few days you take them.
