Unless you're clumsy you shouldn't get wee or poo on your hands and all you touch is the paper dispenser.

That is a question I'm an expert on. When you wipe, you think "Oh nothing is on me" so just leave. But the truth is, you still have germs on your self. So it's best to wash your hands. Now PUBLIC restrooms are the real issue. First of all, your sitting on a toilet that has probably been peed and crapped on all by other people. Then there are people who are sick who touch the toilet paper dispenser. Then when you come out, there are people who took a crap and didn't wipe properly and probably got it on their hands and touched the sink. This is going to sound crazy but it works. When washing your hands in a public bathroom, first take some paper towel and put it under your arm. Then turn on the water, soap, everything as usual. But then the paper towel comes in handy. When done with the water, take the paper towel and first dry your hands. Then take the paper towel and TURN OFF THE WATER WITH THE TOWEL as not to get germs on yourself. Then, once again for those people who didn't wipe right and didn't wash who touched the door handle (there are millions of bacteria here) take the same paper towel and open the door with the towel. Then if the trash can is near, throw it in there while keeping the door open with your foot. Trash can too far away? Use your sleeve. Does the door push outward? Open it with your shoulder and walk out. And one of mans' best creations, the bathrooms with no door but a wall for passing people not being able to look in. So no matter how good you are at wiping and such, there are still germs!

Paper dispenser, toilet handle as you flush it, maybe have to raise or lower the toilet seat. All germy.

No problem with running some water over your hands, use some soap, rub hands together for a minute, rinse. Not so hard. And it lowers the risk of getting those germs into your system.

You may be careful - but what about anyone else who has been in there, touchuing said paper dispenser, the loo handle, the lock on the door etc. It's basic hygiene and it amazes me how many people you see using public loos who do not think it is necessary to wash their hands after using the loo - totally gross!

Just because were not messy doesn't mean that other people aren't. And ur hands carry the most bacteria and every one has touched the paper dispenser

Because other people don't so everything you're touching is dirty. And when you flush a toilet all that bacteria and whatnot flies into the air. So it's best to be clean and wash your hands.

Because it's a habit you don't want to get out of the way of doing. You ever eaten peanuts out of a dish at the bar? Look in it and see what has been left by people who do not wach their hands.

because you touched other things too, the doorhandle to the stall, the flusher, the knob on the way in. It is good period just to wash your hands throughout the day. I dont ever get pee on my hand but I still wash them.
