It is most helpful for determining what properties a new element or elements, will most likely exhibit because the elements in the periodic table are arranged according to their properties or structures, for example if a new element was made that would be properly placed in column 18 of the periodic table, it would probably be inert and non-reactive because it would be classified under the Noble Gasses, or if a new element was made that would be placed in the first column of the periodic table with Alkali Metals, the new element would most likely exhibit a charge of +1 like the other elements in that column do.
Also it allows us to group elements into categories of Non-metals, Transition Metals, Noble Gasses, Halogens, Metalloids, Alkali Metals, Alkaline Earth Metals, Lanthanides, and Actinides. Each of these groups are found only in certain parts of the Periodic table, for instance, the Halogens are the elements in Column 17 of the periodic table, Noble gasses are in column 18, Alkali metals are column 1, and Alkaline Earth Metals are in column 2.

the periodic table is arranged in a way that each of the elements follow a pattern. The periods tell people how many shells are present and the groups show how many electrons are in the outer shell. This allows people to look at the reactivity of elements so they can predict how violently element will react with each other. This means that scientists know which elements will be most suitable for the job they want them to do. For example argon is an inert and therefore uncreative gas and it is used when some reactions take place because it will not react with the reactants or the products unlike oxygen which is present in air. It also allows us to create a reactivity series which is important in reduction reactions and allows us to extract metals from their ore using carbon - one of these metals is iron.

The periodic table is organization method for atoms. The elements on it are classifyed by atomic number or number of protons it has. Also each elements atomic mass is given. The periodic table can be used for all sorts of things. By knowing the number of electrons an atom has and knowing the number of electrons needed to fill each shell of an atom, one can find different combinations of molecules or combined atoms.

It shows you all the basic elements in science, including new ones that are man-made (unnaturally occurring in nature).
I remember using it for tests in school because you'd have to find how many elements of one thing would be needed such that they bonded with another element
The numbers and locations on the table can indicate how many protons, electrons, and neutrons are in each atom, as well as how they will be altered during a bond with another element

It helps us identify classes of elements, the ones that have a great deal in common because of their similar electron structure.
