I saw a question recently about how Kane owes all his success to The Undertaker and I didn't get a chance to respond. First of all Kane has talent so he had something to do with his own success. In my opinion the Undertaker and Kane both owe a great deal of their success to Paul Bearer (William Moody). When they both started out Paul Bearer was their mouthpiece while they were still working on their mic skills. If it had not been for Paul Bearer cutting promos for them both I doubt the gimmick would have gone over as well. Agree or disagree?

Yes well you are right. Undertaker and Kane both owe their success to Paul Bearer, the writers and wwe fans. Yes both were not the greatest on the mic when they first came and it was Paul who helped them. But I think there is one more thing that should be taken into account-they had the ability to perform. I mean even if Paul Bearer acts as a mouthpiece for Khali, I don't see Khali becoming what Kane and Undertaker are today.

But Jayson I have a question for you...please try to respond...

Why is it that Undertaker gets 15-0 at wm and 5 titles where Kane has 1 title and is losing a lot nowadays, Taker still wins a lot nowadays? I mean both are supposed to be "brothers" right? And they have practically the same moves and stuff...so my question- is kane treated unfairly? Does he deserve as much as Undertaker?

There are three people responsible for Undertaker's and Kane's success:
Vince McMahon
William Moody
Mark Callaway

Vince McMahon saw the potential in these two behemoths (Kane and Undertaker). He took a chance and put together a persona of a "Deadman" and presented it to people. The fans loved it.

I agree that sticking William Moody (Paul Bearer) in was ingenious because it lent itself to the "mystique" of this deadman persona as Undertaker would "growl" his line "Rest in Peace" and roll his eyes to the back of his head while Bearer filled in the rest of the story. Moody was instrumental in introducing Kane to Undertaker and really delivering us a very interesting and menacing storyline.

Mark Callaway (Undertaker) is also responsible for Undertaker and Kane's success. You could have a "deadman" and a great story but if the you have a wrestler that is "crappy" or "stiff" which the "Great Khali" is then the persona would die off but it didn't. He put on a great show and continues to do so. For a big man he is very agile and the "Tombstone Piledriver" is a very good finisher for him.

Calloway has always made the other guy look good in his matches and he is not afraid to lose to someone to put them over. His matches with Kane were to put Kane over. When you think of where Glenn Jacobs (Kane) was at before this character it was as Jerry Lawler's dentist - Isaac Yankem. That persona did not go over well and so it was revamped.

I would say that yes, I agree with your statement about Moody but would add the other two names as well for the success of Kane and Undertaker.

I definitely agree that Paul Bearer, and the whole story line among the 3 of them played a big role in their success! When Kane came in as the brother to Undertaker, then Bearer being the father, and the love/hate relationship over the years between them all was intriguing! But both guys have a huge fan following, and that's that key to their success or anyones success in the business!!

It's an all of the above type answer...

Kane and the Undertaker have succeeded because of their skills, size, work ethic, dedication to the wrestling business.

Paul Bearer's mic skills, and the company's belief in Kane\Undertaker and Paul Bearer.

Also whoever originally wrote their storylines deserves a fair share of the credit.

I agree with what you say. But, you leave out one important detail. I always feel a person's success is determined by the people (Fans) of that person. True the Promos and such help determine this following, but, it has to be geared to what the people want. So, the two go hand in hand. Presents a good image the people expect and the people make you successful.

Absoulutely agree.

Both of them had the talent to succeed, they just needed a gimmick. Paul Bearer was able to help them with that, and the rest is history.

i could be very disillusioned at this because it particularly is being an incredible push for Kane and if he faces UT he will of course lose, ruining his push. regrettably interestingly that Kane ought to be the only in charge and the two will face in a casket tournament at Summerslam. it particularly is in basic terms a hearsay tho and that i'm hoping it is not authentic.
