yes. but they won't be too bad off. joey harrington is a decent backup and chris redman is a louisville guy so bobby petrino won't be bad off. also they have dj shockley, who is a poor man's michael vick. i think that in next years draft they will go for brian brohm from louisville. he will be a good fit in atlanta. but as of now, the falcons, and their fans are regretting that trade, even though it brought in some talented rookies through the draft.

Any time you can get 2 high draft picks and swap 1st rounders for 1 player it is worth it. Schaub had a 1 year contract with Atlanta. In the offseason Schaub would have left and Atlanta would have gotten nothing for him. The Falcons took those picks and came up with a solid DE and a great offensive lineman. Down the road, barring injury, these 2 guys will be pro bowlers. They have great physical skills.
The Falcons raped the Texans for a player that has only started 2 games, has only completed 52.2% of his passes, and has only thown 6 TDs compared to 6 INTs.
Right now the backup for Vick is Joey Harrington. Joey Harrington's career stats are actually quite similar to Schaub's, only Harrington is a much more experienced quarterback. The Texans were fools for giving up so much for Schaub. The Falcons are still going to get the Texans 2nd round draft pick next year.
If something happens to Vick this year it will be painful to watch Joey Harrington run this offense. But with the WR the Falcons have I don't think it would really matter who stood in the pocket unless they have Mike Vick speed. The receivers can't get open to save their lives.
Trust me, if Vick goes down the Falcons will suck. But even with Schaub at QB they would suck. The extra 2 high draft picks were well worth it. This trade may not help the Falcons immediately, but in 3 years it will make a huge positive impact on this team.

I ask you to have self belief in the Atlanta Falcons as I do. i'm additionally a fan and function had limitless problems because of the fact of Vicks overall performance on the sphere. you would be able to desire to contemplate numerous components for the justifications in the back of this commerce. a million. it would be harder to commerce Vick than Schaub. - Vick has an incredibly great settlement and if the falcons traded him they may well be the loser. 2. They weren't going to re-sign Schaub with the aid of the tip of the season. it incredibly is sturdy that they have got been given some thing for his nicely worth as a substitute of letting him walk. 3. Now the Falcons can anticipate convalescing their team in the draft. Now to your hatred against Vick, I comprehend. yet i think of he had the main drop passes final season. The receiving middle replaced into not sturdy in any respect. additionally i might provide him a 2nd hazard because of the fact of recent education. Petrino is going to fuse some new life into this team. additionally final year the Falcons OC and DC have been undesirable. poor play calling. As for Atlanta's 1st around %.. i may well be very disillusioned in the event that they draft a QB. Petrino has already stated Vick is the Falcons QB. Getting a QB isn't a choose for this team and he might sit down on the bench and be ineffective. The Falcons choose in the draft are safeties, shielding ends and O-Linemen. QB is unlikely. i could see them drafting a QB in the later rounds yet not in the 1st. If the Falcons are ever going to bypass after a QB, don't be shocked in the event that they combat to draft Brohm out of Louisville next year. to whether the Falcons traded away their suitable QB. i might say no. - Vick is the chief of the team - Schaub has had little interest adventure provide Vick a gamble. i'm.

If Vick gets hurt or is suspended, the Falcons are screwed. Harrington is not a good quarterback at all. 2 teams in 2 years = you suck.
Falcons should have stuck with Schaub or drafted a QB. Heck they may get lucky and land Culpepper. Who knows.

Whether they WOULD NOT have made this trade I don't know, but I can tell you they SHOULD NOT have made it...
Matt Schuab may not be proven as a starter, but he is almost certainly a better starter than Joey Harrington. And it's very easy to say that they should give Vick one more year and then go draft Brian Brohm, except for 2 things:
1 If Vick gets suspended at any point during the year their only option is Harrington, and
2 Brian Brohm is projected as the number 1 pick, so just because they want him doesn't mean they will get him. They would have to be horrible (and I'm talking 2-14 Raider HORRIBLE) to get that pick, and just because Petrino coached Louisville doesn't give them special rights to Brohm.

Yeah, the Falcons are a real mess. Michael Vick has gotten in to so much trouble that I don't even want to watch NFL Live anymore. They're always talking about him and the dog fighting. If I were the Falcons, I would have taken Brady Quinn at #8 in the draft.

I assume you mean SHOULD not have traded Matt Schaub...and I agree...If Vick is injured, or more likely suspended over the dog fighting, the Falcons are screwed...and the Texans are crazy for betting their season on Schaub...about as crazy as when they drafted Mario Williams over Reggie Bush...

They could not have seen this coming. At the time of the trade, it was a decent trade. They got something for what would have just been sitting on the bench.
In retrospect, its horrible luck. But Vick is innocent until proven guilty, remember that.
I hope the Falcons pick up Daunte Culpepper

Schaub is effective with the west coast offense but very inexperienced with other type of offenses.
