I noticed during England's match against Estonia, Peter Crouch was wearing Rooney's #9. Rooney didn't play, but why did Crouch wear #9 and not his usual number?

I think it is because during the qualification stage, a coach need not to submit a fixed squad list of 23 for all matches, and there is no fixed number for players. Thus, a coach can use a completely different squad for every match, and a player can use different numbers for different games.

But at group stage, coach should submit a list of 23 players whom he want to be in the team, and has them use one fixed number for the whole tournament.

Haha, come on.. do you watch soccer. I`d provide Rooney 8/10 as a participant, yet he loses 3 factors for bein a gobshite and a turn-coat.. so 5/10. Crouch is a pair of million/10 as a participant... he`s rubbish. playstation i`m a Liverpool fan
