how can i get a better idea of how my water bill is calculated?

Is there a way to know how much water I am actually using when washing my hands, using the dishwasher, laundry, flushing the toilet each time, taking a 10 min shower?
It would help to know apprx how much Im spending for each thing Im doing so i can try and lower my water bills. please help.
