the british were mostly in charge of that one but we helped and there was an agreement made to protect the oil in saudi arabia and the region cause hitler nabbed the oil fields and was the first thing we took back before going to europe. So today they have a pact to attack anyone who tries to control the region (except themselves i presume).

They lived on the eastern edge of the empire paid to fight the barbarian hordes who wandered through they were not slaves, working class fighters. Until moses led them away.
Now Britain and buddies place them on the eastern edge of Europe. Stubborn they fight fight fight holding that dividing line between cultures. Protecting Europe from the "evil barbarian" central asians.

The British did, it was their decision to make for some reason I don't recall, but they were the world power at that time. Problem is, they had promised it to the Palistinians previously. However, after WWII we were so shocked to hear of what had happened in the death camps that we supported them, as did all the other NATO nations. This was all before I was born, but Britain had the position then that we do now in world affairs, we didn't really get into all of that until after WWII. We were part of a large community of people who all believed the same thing. It was not as cross culturally sensitive as it is today, that is the truth. But that was in an era where land wars (if we win we own the land) were just ending in acceptability, and it was a different mind set around the world, from what I read.
