His wrestling ability and mic skills definitely. But i think all of them work. Put them all together. That's the best you can get. Wrestlers not only need a great wrestling ability, they need a great charisma too to make it work. But then, you can also have a bad gimmick but still get people to love you because of your ability and because of your charisma or mic skills. I could say that they all work together at once to make a wrestler successful. If you just want to watch pro wrestling without any text being said then i guess we only need great wrestling ability like Chris Benoit and Bret Hart has. But if you look at it carefully, i don't like the gimmick of certain wrestlers. For example, Chris Benoit's. The reason why is because it's plain. Nice entrance and all but seriously. What did make me love him was his wrestling ability and his great mic skills. So i think i will have to go with wrestling ability and mic skills. But without the mic skills in an entertainment business, you are not going to make it.

I would say that all three are related for a wrestler to be successful but I think wrestling ability is the most important followed by gimmick and then followed by mic skills. I say this beacuse if u give Khali Undertaker's gimmick, do you think he will be famous? No, cause he can't wrestle. The gimmick is the next important thing provided u have the wrestling ability. Rememeber back then Kane and Undertaker when they first came were bad on the mic. It was Paul Bearer's gimmick and promos that helped them become popular. Mic Skills are not really important cause fans like Taker, Benoit etc. and they are not great on the mic. But having said this, mic skills are also important but the other two are more important in my opinion especially wrestling ability.

Gimmick, a little. For the WWE it could mean a lot. But Undertaker and Austin are also good wrestlers, so it's not all gimmick.

Mic Skills: Not anymore. You can hear John Cena being booed a lot! You need some in-ring abilities too, like Flair does.

Wrestling Ability: WWE, not really. If John Cena, Batista and Khali can make it, then it appears that you just have to have a troubled childhood, live in a broken home or not be able to speak english.

In TNA, it's wrestling ability #1.

All wrestlers have to have some skill. But the reason that Benoit and Matt Hardy do not have world heavyweight titles is because of their mic skills. Matt is supposedly receiving a push because of his backstage personality and his respect for wanting to learn. Benoit is Benoit. He will never have mic skills and they have given him the belt. He won't ever see it again because he can not hold his own outside of the ring. Cena and The Rock and Stone Cold all have/had mic skills that elevated them to the top. Nobody will accuse Stone Cold of being one of the best "wrestlers" of all time.

The one characteristic you did not list is size. The Great Khali is the best example, and Kane, when he first came in with that gimmick, is another good example. But The Great Khali is no wrestler and obviously no legible mic skills.

Desire ... Period ... You can be great w/out any one of the things on the list if you want it bad enough. If you want it bad enough you can attain the in ring skill through hard work ... Mic skills will come with confidence , and the gimmick will develop itself as most of the huge successess in the business either developed it after a few tries or just took thier own personlaities (i.e. Ric Flair , Austin etc..etc..) and turned the "volume" up a few notches.. My 2 cents

Mic skills. You can have all the in ring talent in the world but if you have no charisma not enough people are going to care one way or the other about you. Lance Storm is a great example of this, he is quite possibly the greatest in ring technician since Bret Hart, on equal footing with Angle but he has the personality of sandpaper.
If you cannot get the fans to either love you or hate you its death!

I would say gimmick, and ability, but choosing one I would say mic skills!!!! Because Vince apparently watching guys run their mouth!!!! Look at Shelton/Benoit they are great wrestlers yet they are not being pushed!!! My fave is abilities and gimmicks!!!! And I hate that, a wrestler shouldn't have to talk someone to sleep to be great!!!

In "WWE" these days Id say the Gimmick because all the guys in the top spots can not wrestle any better then the mid card.

Anywhere else that takes wrestling seriously you skills will.
