The movie Drop Dead Fred, Almost any 80's song that was on the radio when I was young, Going Tubing, eating Popsicles, walking bear foot in the sand, seeing an old tv show that was on when I was younger. All kinds of little things take me back to my childhood.

I was born in 1923,and had a great family. We were poor only in material things, in everything else we were rich. Rich in conversation; in reading books; in growing our own vegetables; in having fresh flowers for our dinner table, even if we were eating rice with peas; In our faith that God would provide, and he did; in the long walks I took with my Dad who taught me so many things about animals, fishing; and plants; with having a Mom who never made me forget that I was special and loved; In learning to have compassion, and an open heart for others; in being honest; in having a dog
as my best companion and friend since I was the youngest child in my family; and last but not least, for the laughter which we found in each other; and our love, respect and gratitude that we lived in the greatest country in the world. Now that I am old, and have no family at all, I go back to my childhood during the dark days and nights of the soul and find refuge and courage to face another day. My childhood was the frosting on the birthday cake of life, and in my reverie, I cherish and savor each moment and remembrance of days long gone.

Wanting to be on the lake in the mountains. When that urge comes my mind immediately goes back to my childhood days. The woods were my refuge. Odd to say but being able to getaway, kept me from running away.

when i let the dogs out and they are so happy to see me, and it reminds me of my first dog, who was the best friend for a little kid. also, when someone says something that takes me back, like remind me of something i did that i hadn't thought of in a long time. someone recently mentioned bows and arrows, and it made me think of how i use to run around, literally lived in a washrag for the front and a washrag for the back, held by a belt around my waist (homemade loin cloth) and nothing else. running around the neighborhood being an indian with my homemade bow and arrows i would make out of branches. lol

Whenever I hear certain songs and some smells remind me of childhood. Also Jergen's lotion reminds me of my grandmother. She always used it and everytime I smell it I think of her.

Abandonment issues often triggered by unpleasant events. I'd much rather stay in the present. It's much safer.
