Need to draft a sewing pattern?

Question

I need to figure out how to draft a pattern for a mans suit jacket and pants. I do know how to sew put never made a pattern using measurements. Can anyone tell me how this is done or give me web address with insructions

you need to buy yourself a book ,that shows you step by step guide,you might find the book you need in your local book store ,or check on e bay,i sew also makeing your own pattern is not easy it will take some practice ,even with a guide ,i made cheerlead squads uniforms with out a pattern ,i simply took the old ones apart,to use as a refrence guide,then i measured all the girls one at a time,its to hard for me to explain hoe to measure,i never made a pattern for a suit before,i would buy a book on desighning @drafting patterns,amazon.com will lead you to several choices or books on drafting yourown pattern for any type clothing including suits and seperates,good luck ,sounds like a plann for me soon,kathy a

Look into nearby colleges that may offer some fashion design classes. Drafting can be done manually with good math skills and proper drafting tools. I learned this method years ago. I know there are some computer assisted programs in use now, but you need to understand the process to make a successful pattern. This is where proper instruction comes in.

You have chosen a very complicated job. I usually purchase a pattern that comes closest to the desired suit, and then make whatever minor changes are necessary to meet the measurements.

My biggest challenge was a very large man, I'm talking tall and wide.
