When the crooks office was raided by the FBI, Pelosi stood up and yelled a screamed about the balance of Power and in essence stated that the Congress was not subject to the law.
Pretty disgusting isn't it.
He will not resign but the good citizens of this country will have justice. Several members of the House are proceeding with expulsion and if you agree or not. email your representative and tell them what you think.
He should be expelled, NOW and then go to jail.
For those who do not the workings of our government, he can be expelled for any reason upon on 75% of the members of that house voting for it.

When William Jefferson's house was raided, Nancy Pelosi demanded he step down from the committee he was a member of. They could not expel him because he had not been indicted yet. HOWEVER, they put someone else to run against him for the Democratic nomination, Louisiana state senator Derrick Shepherd and State Rep. Karen Carter entered the race. Unfortunately, this is where the effects of Hurricane Katrina came back to haunt the Democratic party. The people in his district re-elected him in spite of the fact that the Party was not supporting him because they did not want him back.
Now that he has been indicted, Speaker Pelosi is following the rules that they have to in order to get him ousted. If he resigns he will be entitled to a pension. If she does what she is doing now and he gets expelled, no rewarding corrupt behavior, unlike people like Randy " Duke" Cunningham, and Bob Ney even though they are convicted felons, they still get their congrssional pension. Pelosi tried to get the rules changed to make it retroactive for all convicts but could not get enough votes. ,

Do we live ina country that goes by the rule guilty until proven innocent?
That being said, given the overwhelming evidence one would think he would resign. But he has decided to fight the charges.
He has been indicted, but that is not enough for him to be expelled from congress. Unfortunately, Pelosi's hands are tied in this matter, as would anyone else's in her place. She can only pressure him to step down at this point. Until a guilty verdict is reached he technically can't be expelled from congress.

Edit -----
To everyone bashing Pelosi, please at least listen to the news. Pelosi wants him gone. She has said so herself. However, there is a process that has to be followed. Until a guilty verdict is handed down he can't be expelled.

He has stepped down...
without a fight....
Why did it take convicted Ney 3 WEEKS to
be force out of his office?
Why did Tom Delay have to be
FORCED from his office?
Dennis Hastert had no problem keeping
his congress in corruption...he didn't even
do anything about Foley when he knew for
YEARS that Foley was pouncing on teen pages...
And he did NOTHING about it, until a PAGE
exposed Foley...PATHETIC!

Because he is innocent cause he said so. Didn't you know?
Just kidding.
With all the overwhelming evidence they have against this guy you would think he would try and be responsible to not only himself and his family but also to his constituents and just step down.
But ALAS! He is a Dem. They get acquitted even if they are found standing over a dead body holding the smoking gun.
He, like Ted Kennedy, will probably not only get through this and stay in the congress. His dummy constituents will still keep voting for him.

This is still America and there is still something known as due process. Believe me, the Democrats wish he were gone NOW so this isn't hanging around during the election next year. But he claims he is innocent, and until found otherwise he cannot be punished.

The bottom line is that all of his assets have been confiscated. If he resigns, he will have nothing to live on. If he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, what would be the right thing to do?

Only if its in the republican party, she will turn a blind eye to it in her own. Pelosi is a self supporter I don't much care for her.
Jefferson should go but I'm sure he'll probably stay with the rest of the crooks.

In my opinion it's because the democrats NEVER take personal responsibility for their actions. If Jefferson were a republican Nancy and Harry would be out there screaming their fool heads off demanding he resign. Also if he were a republican the Conservatives would be demanding his resignation, they do hold their people accountable.
