well, many physicists think there is a new subatomic particle, called the graviton, which would explain gravity. But, they have not discovered it yet, so we really won't know until they do.

This explanation is heretical to contemporary physics, yet valid… most probably accurate.
There are two classes of gravity. The first is the one with which you are familiar.
There is antimatter in the core of our Sun, and that antimatter resides in a space not shared by our universe. The core’s Event Horizon creates vibration as the two universes interact. This vibration is the fundamental frequency of our Solar System, and the feature of this vibration is that it functions with the matter at hand, forcing it into traveling just under the speed of light. When you consider that at the depth of the Sun’s core’s Event Horizon, vibrational movement may consist of distances measured in diameters of atoms, near light speed vibration maintains a staggeringly high frequency - well beyond the electromagnetic spectrum. The good news is that our Sun is most stable, else, our physics and chemistry would become somewhat variable as well as the gravity.
All you have to do is realize that all of our atoms are bathed in this sea of vibration, and that during any extremely short Significant Moment, the large, dense atoms react differently than do the small atoms. This should be no surprise if you study vibration at all, and it is a simple step from understanding how packed, close-proximity particles act in a vibrational environment, to realize that they move in this universal and constant hyperspectra vibration, and that the movement displays patterns.
The particles interact with others in their neighborhood, and the short explanation of the results is that they create an interactive relationship which extends to the entire solar system. This relationship tends to congregate atoms where density is already present, and the mathematics suggest a continuous inclination for the particles in the solar system to move toward the Sun.
The humor is that, even if the reader does not agree with the antimatter center of our Sun concept, to think that the Sun does not express vibration would be daft. I am only asking the reader to accept the possibility that there is a frequency range above where you have been directed to study.
See? Gravity is not complex nor magical at all.
The other form of gravity occurs between the antimatter core of our Sun, and the cores of all the other stars & Black Holes. This gravity functions in Imaginary Time, not Real Time, and in a different universe or dimension, if you prefer.
Contemporary mainstream physics does not make a distinction of the two types.

Newton was interested in what the force did, its relationship between two bodies. He did not search for the reason the force itself exists. Using the present equation, the force of a single body cannot be determined. This force, though, is of a particular form of energy. The energy source is found in the physics trilogy: E = mc2, m = E/c2, and c2 = E/m. The last is that for a field of gravity. Notice that in the last equation a field of gravity is able to be found for a single mass.
There is at http://360.yahoo.com/noddarc a short, easy to understand writing entitled "Concepts Concerning Time, Gravity, and Energy" that may be of interest.

It is just a law of the universe that an object of any mass will curve space-time around it and thus create gravity. These laws were made by God at the beginning o time.

The gravity is because of mass.
Mass is the fundamental property of Body.
Because of mass gravitational force occurs between two bodies of the Universe.

Einstein came up with a hypothesis about space bending around objects. Its a good model for calculating gravitational properties, but is not proven.
This is a question that is still on the table for debate.
My answer is this.....God!

Because anything with mass bends the fabric of the space around it. Creating a well, so to speak. Any object getting near enough falls into its well.

The "cause" of gravity is mass, and it can be compared to electromagnetic/electrostatic attraction, except that no repulsive version is known to exist.

We really, honestly, don't know. We can measure it and predict it. We know its properties. But we don't know why it happens. The general relativity view that spacetime is warped in the presence of mass still has no explanation for why that is true. Nor do we know the reasons for the other fundamental forces.
