pressure comes from the weight of the air above you. there's about 100 miles of it which at sea level causes around 14.7 psi of pressure. as you go up in altitude, there is less air pressing down on you so the pressure is less. temperature at altitude is lower mainly because there isn't as much air to trap heat in. there are also lots of other dynamic factors involved but these are the primary ones.

let us think in particle level.

at low altitude, the particle are very close together. Hence the desity is high. And hence the pressure is high.

If pressure at a place is high, they can collide and transfer energy like heat faster. Moreover they convert their kinetic energy into heat energy.

At high altitude, the particles are farther apart, hence the density is low, similarly the pressure and hence the temperature.

We can demonstrate this with simple experiments.

Fill water in a tall thin jug. Make a hole in the middle and another at the bottom. I hope you will find the pressure to be maximum at bottom.

Similarly, in hand pump used to fill air for cycle,
when we pump, the pressure in the chamber increases, leading to more collusion, which further leads to increase in temperature.

Hence they all are dependable, the change in one will definitely have an effect on the other.

The sun heats the earth, and the heat radiates up, so the farther you are from the surfacr of the earth, the cooler it is.

The atmosphere has weight. Not much, but it does. At sea level, the entire weight of the atmosphere is on you. On top of mount Everest, only a small amount of the atmosphere is above you, so less pressure.

The atmosphere is "thinning", or lessening in pressure. Thinner/low pressure air can't hold as much heat and the atmospheric pressure lessens as you move upwards because there is less air pushing down on you. Standing on the ground we feel the full pressure of the atmosphere.
